These are the bugs I can list from the top of my head related to that ONE difficulty modifier:
Rituals can be triggered way too early without any player aggro, and we are talking 100+ meters, often through walls, locked doors, or 100+ meters below players (one of the desert maps)
In other cases Rituals do NOT trigger until you are literally on the top of them
In some locations they can visually spawn very late, when a player gets close to their span location
Their progress bars often bug out and do NOT show for all or for some players
Multiple rituals can spawn in locations where usually there is only one (assumed bug)
Ogryn’s Bull Rush ability can prematurely wake up the Demon Host, with HP proportional to the Ritual progress when aggro’ed
Demon Host when aggo’ed often sinks under the ground making it hard to hit
Ritual can cause a visual bug with green lightnings blinding one of the players
Cultists can spawn in walls / ceilings making it in some situations impossible to kill, or killable to early
Rituals muffle audio around them making the audio even worse than usual
Ritual can continue at a very slow pace AFTER you kill all the cultists, which makes spawning a full HP Daemonhost unavoidable (thanks @Enforest )
So a question for @FatsharkJulia and @FatsharkQuickpaw from me is: how many more bugs related to ONE Havoc difficulty modifier do we have to discover, for it to be removed from the rotation and fixed? At this point this modifiers has more bugs than actual gameplay features.
Those issues have been known, and expanded since the modifier was introduced to the game. A sensible thing to do here would be remove it from the rotation, test and fix the issues, and then reintroduced to the game.
Just posting to bump this, but really there’s nothing to discuss here. Nearly all of this was reported in the beginning of season 2 havoc when this modifier was first introduced and they barely fixed anything. This modifier could be really enjoyable if not for miriad of bugs and cheap placements on certain map where you need to run through possible boss triggers to reach the ritual site. When it works it plays good, when it doesn’t it’s on par with Rotten Armor and other notoriously awful modifiers.
On some maps/good RNG rituals is a free modifier but when it breaks its probably the most offputting thing about this game. Every patch that drops without a “Fixed Heinous Rituals” note makes me less and less enthusiastic about playing havoc when this is in rotation.
It’s a real shame because I think heinous rituals is like the one interesting modifier in all of havoc. If it wasnt’t bugged as hell it would probably be my favorite.
Need is such a strong word for a self-inflicted choice that requires you to trigger a boss (and a horde) in order to avoid a perfectly killable boss
There’s plenty wrong with the rituals, the exceedingly rare opportunity to make actual meaningful tactical choice in this game shouldn’t be among them, even at the cost of accepting that it is forced by a less than ideal circumstances!
“We hold this room and kill it here, keep the CD’s and corner it!” is the game being good for once.
But then again i don’t pug and that might give me a considerably different outlook on the thing, discord makes it easy to set up and people who already done it and have it in their knowhow probably make all the difference between the mundane and the run ending
It’s more interesting and interactive than “almost all colours of the rainbow” modifiers with their increasingly more annoying effects.
Whoever added stagger resistance to the purple modifier, after a lot of players pointed out you are just hurting lower dps, but high stagger weapons, we see you, this is the lowest of the low.
You forgot about the bug causing the ritual to continue at a very slow pace AFTER you kill all the cultists, which makes spawning a full HP Daemonhost unavoidable.
I might or might not used this to our advantage. In some situations its the “easier” option. The first time it was totally on accident, and luckily I have done it on the early stage of a ritual.
I had a ritualist which was on level above from the ritual, in real terms that was probably 4-5 meters, so you could accidently hit it when progressing through that area way before you could see the ritual. It was one of the desert maps, I never remember it’s name, where you carry the samples at the end.
