i made a recording of it, but it’s too big so yeah here’s a youtube link of it:https://youtu.be/hn_PfSgQu60

[PC] Crash Report (Optional):

the window doesn’t appear lol

Does this issue occur for any other games on the drive?

Looking online at potential causes, I found:

  • NAND Flash Degradation, with bad blocks if the drive is failing
  • Thermal stress, does your drive have a heatsink? High temps could cause data corruption and cell errors
  • Controller/Firmware bug, if the controller is misidentifying healthy cells as bad cells

no other games do this, i have a heatsink for the drive and i have no clue how to find out the last one

the drive only gets demolished when i launch and load into the hub of darktide

Ok I see, does Darktide crash when this happens?

If so, could you please provide a console log from a session this occurs, and I can request for one of our engine developers to take a looksee:

i’d love to, but after i got that recording i uninstalled the game because well it didn’t seem very nice on my drive, also the game never actually showed the dialouge window of “oops, we seem to have crashed” and it just kept running according to steam after the game window closed

No worries! Admittedly, it’s quite an unusual case - I’ve not seen an SSD behaving in this way with Darktide before. If possible, could you try reinstalling Darktide to a different drive and check how things are? If that’s not possible, then not to worry.

look i’m pretty sure something got censored up from a malicious steam modpack i ran way back in 2023/24 with possibly a bad bat file, but yeah i will try it sometime in the next week

actually after i did uninstall darktide 2 other games did the exact same thing to the same drive, but they never did it again after that one instance from both of them

yeah no it was just on the other drive, my main drive runs it fine, guess it’s just my pc soiling itself
