Seems a surprising amount of people are only upgrading the visible items (weapons) in lobby, and going in with green/blue random curios. Then there are the 6 wound ogryns.
People should know so they can decide if they want to stick around or not.
edit: e.g. 2 wound, 1 HP, 2x blue and 1 purple but they have A.S.S. What’s that tell you? Crap like this is surprisingly common. Another lev 300 with unmodified perks on 2/3 curios and 1 weapon, I bet that 8% extra $ will save the day!
come to think of it, that might be an even greater indicator of things go south than the loadout itself.
usually i don´t give a crap about what people use, nothing i can do about it anyways and i rather operate on my top level gear than compensate for something they might or might not lack.
but this here reminded me of wednesday´s match with my buddy just pointing via discord : did you see the wounds on them dudes?
from that point it was clear to brace for “impact” followed by rage-disconnect and hope for someone more apt to take their places.
so yeah, wound-patrol might be a bigger red flag than low level with blue gear.
Id’s say they’re on-par.
Had a 6 wound ogryn last night before I posted, normally I’d leave but I was curious. It went as well as you’d expect but fortunately they left very early on after then went down like a sack of ogryns.
It’s a slap in the face when I realized how many were relying on curios not being seen in the lobbies and make zero effort. I’m not sure what they think the blue curio with extra curio rewards (ironically) and mission XP does for them, but it’s clear they don’t care.
If they made zero effort then I don’t feel like I should make an effort to play with them either and would like to the option to remove myself from the equation without wasting additional time.
Exactly, and I’d like to avoid the 6 wound ogryn and 3x green curio level +100 vet ahead of time. I agree, it is ridiculous to go into damnation aurics and more often maelstroms with these players and normal to want to not waste time on that lost cause. These people clearly have no consideration for the team and have solely relied on being carried, I’d rather not contribute to the problem or be an NPC in their solo game by opting out.
You can stay in the map with them, if you like. People deserve to know if they’re going to be wasting their time.
I doubt many changes will get included on the grounds that they ‘help good players identify bad players so they can leave unappealing lobbies’.
I’d really appreciate a lobby screen for quickplay which shows load outs and team comp before you jump in, a la helldivers. If it shows curios more the better.
they do.
there´s only so much fun in carry until it tips over into frustration.
briefly its like watching a monkey with a gun, cute and funny.
but after the 100th time of wasted effort without even the tiniest learning effect you just leave em be.
why is there an obligation to make up for peoples missing effort ?
i sure don´t in my everyday life, why should i in my passtime ?
now where´s the adress i can send you the 15 weekend warriors with learning issues and napoleon complex yapping while downed or standing in the line of fire in the meantime ?
oh and clinging onto medkit and ammo crate seemed to be a weekend “penance” as well.
honestly, i don´t send people packing that are willing to learn AND got potential
if there´s hope for improvement or effort put in from the other side i´m more than willing to help.
but despite my willingness to provide “puppy protection”
usually i end up with:
Congratulations, you carried a player who probably should have been learning the ropes in reg damnation to make it more fun for you.
What happens to the next group of 3 players who learned how to play and Mira is also there? Will they wipe because you’re not there to carry Mira? Is it fair or fun for them? I doubt it, but hey, not there, it doesn’t matter. What happens when there are 2 Miras? A person dropping ever other minute and consuming all the resources while doing nothing to advance the game shouldn’t be there. Matches keep going when you’re not there.
There are plenty of players actually trying, not great players, but they paid their dues and learned the game basics and moved up to where they don’t drag your average team down to a virtual guaranteed loss. There are enough average (the average not being great) to keep things “fun”
Coddling the freeloaders just makes them stick around more and ruin more games for more people and creates more of them. Enable bad behavior and you’ll get bad behavior.
It is fair for them. They are not at that level and they all want to try so they have to accept the fact that a wipe is very likely. And I think most of them understand that. They may wipe in 5 mins, 10 mins, or even 2 mins, it’s still an experience gained.
What if there is 1 decent players + 3 bad players? The decent player has a chance to improve a lot. That’s how I approach it even if I fail it’s still a good experience that I enjoy. Like this image below when people leave but this guy stick around to learn and experience what it’s like in auric mael. The chat shows that he wants to improve and that’s great.
What if there are 2 good and 2 bad players? Bad players will struggle and when they die, they have a chance to spectate and learn something they never thought possible. They may leave, sure, and the team will get filled. With a better or worse player but they will be alive and draw some aggro.
What if there are 4 good players? The match is super boring and nothing much to improve. You don’t have to step up, you don’t have to play extra hard, just simply boring and nothing much to gain.
