First time I booted up the game after the patch my sprint was suddenly changed from “shift” to “e” for some reason. I’ve never played with that control setting. And every time I change it and restart the game it reverts back to “e”. This happens both with and without mods.
Also the chat bug has returned for me after the patch for the first time in many months for some reason.
Thank you for your time.
Regarding the chat bug, our chat service provider has been a little spotty recently. Restarting can help sometimes, but there isn’t anything immediate we can do on our side. Though I have flagged this with the team and we are monitoring the service.
Curious, after changing settings if you exit and re-enter the hub, and then exit Darktide - is the setting change then reflected when you next launch?
Otherwise, do you have Steam Cloud Save enabled? In case old settings are being restored from the cloud and overriding any changes perhaps. Could you try disabling this and check to see if there’s any difference?
I loaded up the game, changed the settings to the original (sprint on shift), changed character/reloaded the hub before exiting, but the changes weren’t saved upon booting the game up again. I then tried disabling Steam cloud, but this regrettably also didn’t make a difference. Interestingly, it’s only keybindings in options that are reset, for example my input changes are saved.
Oo I see, it is strange that only keybinds are being reset.
It’s a shot in the dark, but could you please try a clean reinstall of Darktide which involves deleting your AppData? (please note, all custom settings e.g. graphics, keybinds, operative loadouts will be fully reset):
It would be interesting to see if a clean reinstall, with fresh AppData and user_settings will then allow you to save keybindings again correctly. Please let me know!
Ok, I did a full reinstallation and it made no difference. I then did it again, but right after the reinstall I desynched the game (again) from Steam cloud and it saved my keybindings upon restart. I now keep Steam cloud off.
Thanks for the update! Steam cloud sync could be syncing corrupted save data. Unfortunately, we have no direct control or access over this Steam feature - but I will mention this to the team to keep an eye on. I’m glad that your settings can save correctly with sync disabled.
