I would argue yes.
If Fat Shark adjusted auras with diminishing returns to grant Aura stacking.
It does not dismiss class stacking, but it also means you lose out on the benefits of other classes if you do stack intentionally or not.
(Since we are unable to change classes during mid mission or mission start, and can only at best change loadout.)
They could also adjust the Aura numbers a bit on some to properly allow for it.
I think teams would be a bit more invested into staying together.
It would not solve everything, but it would give players a stronger reason without over taking their own gameplay desires.
DLC classes would apply as well.
Legend :
TDR = Toughness Damage Reduction
CDR = Cooldown Reduction
MHD = Heavy Melee Damage
For example :
Vet’s Survivalist diminishing returns.
(Every 5 seconds.)
Vet 1 : +1% Ammo
Vet 2 : +0.75% Ammo
Vet 3 : +0.5% Ammo
Vet 4 : +0.25% Ammo
Total : +2.5% Ammo (Every 5 seconds.)
(Probably rounded up to +3% for simplicity at 4 Vets, while at 2 or 3 Vets, only a +2% in maintaining value.)
I.E.
Vet 1 - Vet 3 = +2% Ammo
Vet 4 = +3% ammo
Zealot’s Benediction diminishing returns.
Zealot 1 : +15% TDR
Zealot 2 : +11.25% TDR
Zealot 3 : +7.5% TDR
Zealot 4 : +3.75% TDR
Total : 37.5% TDR
(Rounded to +38% TDR)
(Would probably need some minor adjustments like instead of +15% base change it to +10%)
Total would then be in line +25% like the others that have a base of +10% or similar.)
(This way Zealots ((or other classes)) are stronger together as opposed to ‘alone’.)
Psyker’s Seer Presence diminishing returns.
Psyker 1 : +10% CDR
Psyker 2 : +7.5% CDR
Psyker 3 : +5% CDR
Psyker 4 : +2.5% CDR
Total : +25% CDR
Orgyn’s Bonebreaker diminishing returns
Orgyn 1 : +10% HMD
Orgyn 2 : +7.5% HMD
Orgyn 3 : +5% HMD
Orgyn 4 : +2.5% HMD
Total : +25% HMD
etc.
Two Vets and Two Psykers would be.
+1.75% Ammo on Elite or Specialist kill (every 5 seconds.)
+17.5% CDR
Two Zealots and Two Orgyn would be.
+26.25% TDR
+17.5% HMD
3 Vets 1 Zealot would be
+2.25% Ammo on Elite or Specialist Kill (every 5 seconds.)
+10% TDR
Stacking becomes less of a punishment and more of a viability without overtaking the reasons to want to take other classes.
You may still want a Orgyn for tank, but you have 3 Vets shooting.
You may still want Specialist clear support so you take a Vet, but you have 3 Arb’s or 3 Orgyns brawling it out up ahead.
It does not diminish existing possible team combinations, but allows for more flexibility when class stacking does occur or is even desired when wanting to combine possibilities.
While at it, consider buffing Team Base Coherency from 8m to the Close Range distance of 12m?
This was last asked around back in 2024 with some recent talk about it a few days ago, so wanted to check and see if perspective has changed or how people feel about it as a concept.
Thoughts?
Concerns?
