Should Auras Stack? (+Coh size from 8m to 12m?)

I would argue yes.

If Fat Shark adjusted auras with diminishing returns to grant Aura stacking.

It does not dismiss class stacking, but it also means you lose out on the benefits of other classes if you do stack intentionally or not.
(Since we are unable to change classes during mid mission or mission start, and can only at best change loadout.)

They could also adjust the Aura numbers a bit on some to properly allow for it.
I think teams would be a bit more invested into staying together.
It would not solve everything, but it would give players a stronger reason without over taking their own gameplay desires.

DLC classes would apply as well.

Legend :
TDR = Toughness Damage Reduction
CDR = Cooldown Reduction
MHD = Heavy Melee Damage

For example :

Vet’s Survivalist diminishing returns.
(Every 5 seconds.)

Vet 1 : +1% Ammo
Vet 2 : +0.75% Ammo
Vet 3 : +0.5% Ammo
Vet 4 : +0.25% Ammo

Total : +2.5% Ammo (Every 5 seconds.)
(Probably rounded up to +3% for simplicity at 4 Vets, while at 2 or 3 Vets, only a +2% in maintaining value.)
I.E.
Vet 1 - Vet 3 = +2% Ammo
Vet 4 = +3% ammo

Zealot’s Benediction diminishing returns.

Zealot 1 : +15% TDR
Zealot 2 : +11.25% TDR
Zealot 3 : +7.5% TDR
Zealot 4 : +3.75% TDR

Total : 37.5% TDR
(Rounded to +38% TDR)
(Would probably need some minor adjustments like instead of +15% base change it to +10%)
Total would then be in line +25% like the others that have a base of +10% or similar.)
(This way Zealots ((or other classes)) are stronger together as opposed to ‘alone’.)

Psyker’s Seer Presence diminishing returns.

Psyker 1 : +10% CDR
Psyker 2 : +7.5% CDR
Psyker 3 : +5% CDR
Psyker 4 : +2.5% CDR

Total : +25% CDR

Orgyn’s Bonebreaker diminishing returns

Orgyn 1 : +10% HMD
Orgyn 2 : +7.5% HMD
Orgyn 3 : +5% HMD
Orgyn 4 : +2.5% HMD

Total : +25% HMD

etc.

Two Vets and Two Psykers would be.

+1.75% Ammo on Elite or Specialist kill (every 5 seconds.)
+17.5% CDR

Two Zealots and Two Orgyn would be.
+26.25% TDR
+17.5% HMD

3 Vets 1 Zealot would be
+2.25% Ammo on Elite or Specialist Kill (every 5 seconds.)
+10% TDR

Stacking becomes less of a punishment and more of a viability without overtaking the reasons to want to take other classes.

You may still want a Orgyn for tank, but you have 3 Vets shooting.
You may still want Specialist clear support so you take a Vet, but you have 3 Arb’s or 3 Orgyns brawling it out up ahead.

It does not diminish existing possible team combinations, but allows for more flexibility when class stacking does occur or is even desired when wanting to combine possibilities.

While at it, consider buffing Team Base Coherency from 8m to the Close Range distance of 12m?

This was last asked around back in 2024 with some recent talk about it a few days ago, so wanted to check and see if perspective has changed or how people feel about it as a concept.

Thoughts?
Concerns?
(Repost from my Steam Discussion Topic.)

Coherency is mostly a myth and a soft encouragement to stick together and not run off and do whatever. Auras were never meant to be that powerful or that relevant, and I rarely find myself in coherency even when playing close to my team, nor do I find it mattering all that much, aside from fringe cases like Blight Spreads with a Zealot.

Right, so I guess my question then is should Coherency have a bit more relevance or do players prefer that it be ‘whatever’?

Right now I hear players complaining about leavers and ‘rushers’ to some extent so my inital theory is that this would help a bit and encourage keeping relatively close.

I don’t mind the idea of stacking the same auras with diminishing returns, but it would need to be carefully tuned. Possibly even on an aura by aura basis.

Like those survivalist numbers would be incredibly stupid in practice.

Stacking Vet move speed aura could also become supremely degenerate in no time.

I don’t think it’d help at all with people either ragequitting or running ahead of the team, and honestly I never factor auras in much for the balance of the game. I see them more as a minor passive you can attach to your character, and maybe if your teammates happen to be nearby they get the benefit too.

You’ve got my support, would be a great change imo!

problem right now is

•those that “can” dont need further buffs of any sorts since the game arguably is on the easier side compared to release (hav40 has its own cuddle system and constant ult spam i dont regard as “skillful”)

•those that “can’t” mess up the pace to a crawl and make every match miserable with unwanted and unneeded backtracking if someone would bother keeping them close.

the amount of peeps that lose track on auric maelstrom is mind boggling, how can you not know each map blind by the time you throw yourself at this setting?
and keep coherency with “them”?
all this provokes is loss of time until they find their way and more importantly waste of resources for they bind way more enemy encounters on their stumbling around than they are worth recovering or “adding” by a passive talent.

gameplay economics would always advice against such fools errands and get the stuff done yourself, quick and efficiently.

would be a thing in spacehulk deathwing where you move slowly by nature, fast paced action in darktide standing around, even for waiting to get a stim sometimes, can and will get you killed.

so given the “quality” of the random playerbase, everything that forces you to adjust to them is far worse than be the master of your own fate and rather clutch your way out of it if need be.

Wouldn’t work. Psykinetic Aura used to be the most broken op aura in the game and no one cared enough to sit in coherency for it.
