Will we be able to sell out old gear as we upgrade? Or are we stuck with it?

You could sell it in the beta, when you discard them i believe you “sell” them and get some cash back.

It’s still the case, you just open your inventory, select an item and discard it. It will sell for a bit of gold.

I know it’s not really obvious at first glance.
