I care about balance in the actual game.
But that is not what you are talking about.
You deliberately created a scenario (that has never happened in an actual mission, ever) with the perfect conditions to make something look as strong as you possibly can.
Then you make claims about balance based on that scenario.
You obviously do not care about actual balance, but are trying to push an agenda.
Which is why i think that your feedback should be ignored.
Arguing with some folks is an exercise in futility. They’ve posted some of the most disingenuous arguments I’ve personally ever seen, refusing requests for actual practical evidence to back up their claims; literally impossible scenarios hand-crafted in the Psykhanium to call for nerfs/ the removal of core parts of a class’ kit… absurd.
The OP and others clearly already decided they were correct before this thread was made and they refuse to accept any points or evidence opposing their point of view. They’re just pushing a purposeless hate-fuelled agenda; there was never any genuine “Gameplay Feedback” here.
We should probably just stop replying from this point, let the thread get buried.
Rightfully ignored, because again, it is entirely irrelevant.
Because this scenario does not exist.
If you really NEED the answer, sure.
Psykers probably would have the easiest time dealing with this unrealistic and irrelevant scenario, which you deliberately designed with the specific intent of creating a situation in which the psyker would shine.
Again, entirely irrelevant.
You could easily construct other unrealistic fake scenarios in which one of the other classes would outperform everyone else.
Nobody cares about your BS made up scenarios that do not exist anywhere outside of the psykhanium.
The end.
I think it’s relevant because it’s a conversation about balance, not about viability. These scenarios matter because it illustrates the very huge problem with infinite scaling. Sure, you don’t need to play smite, or shriek, in order to top dps as psyker, it’s a very easy to play class that’s very easy to do anything with the correct builds. There aren’t enough enemies to generate the infinite value that smite can bring about.
However, this is still a blitz and ability with no cap to its damage potential, and even if it is not doing damage, nothing can attack under its effect. No team of a reasonable skill will ever struggle if they have smite, and you can’t fix this problem by just adding more elites to the game (as I demonstrated) and you can’t fix it by adding larger hordes (shriek and smite scale better the more smaller targets there are in the game). The most you can ever do is have 1-2-veg, where you get nurgle blessed enemies and monstrosities, but to only have a couple modifiers that do either of these when the majority of the maps in the selection are not, and the amount of enemies that actually are nurgle-blessed or monstrosities being incredibly low, there is very few actual instances where smite is not a guaranteed win especially for the majority of players in the game who are not playing or able to play these modifiers at their time of day.
If you intend to nerf something based on a purely theoretical scenario that you made up, but which will never happen, you might as well go to prison for life, because i just made up a scenario in which you commited all of the crimes.
Hmmm, a lot of discussion of things pertaininging to abilities and so forth. And here I am with my opinion on psykers!
First: STAVES. What the hell. Staves are not magic items, why the heck do they have powers inside them. Thats idiotic. Psykers have their powers from birth. They are usually telepaths, or telekinteticists, or pyrokineticists. Why is the STAVE often of a different discipline to the one the psyker picks in their skills huh? Stoopid.
Second: How did no one think that having a bunch of weird voices for the psykers might get annoying? I can’t play psyker because there isnt a single normal voice. Not one. I just picked Sienna’s voice actor and left it at that because at the very least, its a kinda cute voice? in the same way that a completely deranged puppy is still cute on the surface.
I have other complaints about psykers, but I got bored of typing so I’m going to go drink Tea now.
Imo I have no problem with each stave doing something different. Sure it doesn’t really make sense but it allows for psyker to have a varied amint of ranged playstyles seperate from their tree. Same as Sienna in VT.
Stave gameplay on the other hand is incredibly boring and needs some stuff changed but that’s a whole other discussion.
I wholeheartedly agree with you on this, I’m not a fan of Psyker’s personalities. I get they’re psykers but still. Also it’s not a case like Kerillian where their characters can be expanded and their nature explained because they’re not actual characters.
