Random teammate player skill has hit an all time low. It feels like playing normal mission board only instead of leavers ppl go down every 20s.
Please re-enforce demotion, the current version is way too easy to circumvent.
No getting stuck on havoc 40!
Everybody needs to demote when three missions went south.
And show current assignment rank.
The current system is a mere afterimage of its long lost glory!
Which is exactly why the demotion is incredibly unfair. If 2 or 3 teammates drop within 3 minutes and the team wipes then it has no bearing on your skill level whatsoever.
I don’t like it for one reason really: in pub games, people are so afraid to fail, that they restrict themselves to very specific class roles and perceived “meta” builds. This gets boring very fast, so does explaining to people that you don’t want to play x, y or z, only because this is their preconception what x,y, z class should play.
I had people live pub groups being assembled because they didn’t like someone’s build, call others “selfish” for not playing a support role on zealot or psyker, or basically try to strong arm someone to use DS because the group was “lacking anti-armour dps”. Just let me play the f…game on difficulty level I want, with a build I want, without a need to engage in pointless discussions.
Yes that is why you are supposed to be the one dying roughly every second mission.
Let’s put it that way: today I went through six groups clutching at least once every second game and still loosing the mission. Then I came across a team where we took turns on dying quite evenly and made two levels. Now I am at square one which is roughly how that is supposed to work. Now comes your unfair part: Because demotion is wack and I cannot see the current assignment level tomorrow I will have to queue through the same six teams again. Because although they probably lost not two but three ranks in the meantime I still see them at the rank I saw them today. So if I do not write down every name today I deem unworthy I am bound to play with them again.
If demotion would be strict, I would be three levels above them now, not quite the range I would not invite them anymore but what about after tomorrow?
As you see people automatically settle at the approximate difficulty and even if that is level 5 it is still more fun because you do not get carried and you don’t have to do the carrying. It is just four like-minded players bashing their heads against the hardest difficulty they can manage (in one of four games).
I do not know where you play and what difficulty but you describe something I rarely see. I am usually playing all the wacky builds myself because stuff gets boring fast. I am playing around level 30 eu and the only thing I encounter are ppl leaving if they do not like the team composition. Rarely someone asks for something but always in a polite way. So maybe drop some levels and go haywire?
Today’s winning team was a rampage scum + assault fgs psyker + Bullrushgrin + me on fotf thammer. And we crushed it.
Edit: you should probably blame the party finder to be so bland. If one could list the preferred team comp and only the appropriate classes could apply to those slots there would be a lot less friction.
I have played only few games this season, so maybe things are changing. Previously I played in half-pre-mades, and people were clearly sticking to the “meta”. We would stick to the classics to get to H40, so I didn’t feel bad about ruining people’s “progress”, and then we would do whatever we liked, first warning any new-comers that we don’t intend to keep it safe. I don’t know, maybe I put too much effort into not upsetting randoms.
