i just really like the idea of having a lazgun that in place of the normal power packs we could unlock a lazweapon that has one of the big backpack power packs and in place of the reload, we have a vent system instead. i really think that this would work with all lazguns and if it had more stamina required to run than their non-backpacked siblings, i wouldn’t really mind that because it makes sense that a lazgun with a power pack backpack would require a lot more stamina to be able to run with it for as long as you’d run with a normal lazgun. hell, i actually know which would gain more peril than others. helbore lazguns gain the most, the recon lazguns would gain the second most, the infantry lazguns gain the second least and lazpistols gain the very least. tbh, excluding helbore would be a fine idea imo.
Helguns and Volley Guns (what the Scab Gunners use) are their own weapons, not modified versions of our current Lasguns. I’d like to be able to use a Helgun more so and I’d eagerly sacrifice my backpack cosmetic for a power supply pack.
What do you mean by “unlockable”? I hope you don’t mean via Penances or something… Fatshark locks enough behind those Emperorforsaken things. I’d genuinely riot if we had to wait this long for Helguns just for them to not come straight outta Brunt’s Armoury.
why would i mean penances, it has been clearly established that weapons can never be unlocked through penances, only cosmetics.
What do you mean? All of the current weapons in-game are unlocked solely via levelling up your characters, not from cosmetics. I’m just confused as to what you mean by “unlockable” weapons and ask for clarification.
i don’t really see any sort of problem with how i spoke, i mean, unlocking weapons is in fact done through leveling, that was always the case, honestly i’m starting to feel like most people don’t even read the post itself and just skim it for half a second and comment.

you don’t gain peril, but you gain overheat when it comes to plasma gun.
I think lasguns for now are fine like they are, with the power pack ammos.
you can still use some backpack as cosmetic, at least for veterans.
This is getting extremely defensive right here. I’m asking a question that you did not, in fact, answer in your original post. I wanted to know what you meant by “unlockable” because it would change my outlook on your suggestion if you were meaning to suggest locking Helguns and Volley Guns behind Penances because I’ve seen such preposterous suggestions before. Saying I “didn’t read your post” because I sought clarification about something that was left a bit vague is kinda rude. I’m not attacking you, choom.
It would quite help if your posts weren’t just a block of text and instead had more structure.
But for Hotshot Lasgun (any of them), apart from the cosmetic problems, there is also the balance factor, where they’re supposed to be quite more potent than Lasguns but be as nimble.
There are hotshot packs for normal lasguns and dedicated hellguns and hotshot volleyguns that are the ones that have the external power source. The latter are usually closer to being squad assault weapons or machine guns, but there are pistol versions.
Hellguns with backpack batteries are the most iconic stormtrooper/kasrkin weapons and the lack of them in this game is a travesty.
