Ogryn is "weak"

I have 1500 hours playing strictly Ogryn since October of 2023, it feels to me as though Fatshark doesn’t know what to do with Ogryn, they nerfed feel no pain, they nerfed the frag bomb which at the time sure but with how the game currently is i think having feel no pain and frag bomb put back to how they originally where would help Ogryn a lot on top of making heavy hitter keystone stacks decay 1 at a time, you can’t sit here and tell me that hivescum’s chemical dependancy stacks decaying 1 at time is OK while Ogryn’s heavy hitter stacks decaying all at once is also OK. Leave Hivescum’s how it is and just have Ogryn’s heavy hitter stacks decay 1 at a time. I feel putting feel no pain back to how it originally was would help Ogryn’s greatest vulnerability right now with being mowed down by gunner lines when you have nothing to hit and trying to close the gap. Ogryn did feel REALLY REALLY good last March when there was the talent tree rework but then once the other classes got their talent tree rework Ogryn felt to me as though it fell back into the shadows, I play the other classes and feel I can everything Ogryn can do but better on the other classes outside of taunting enemies of course. Frag bomb is a wet noodle in comparison to other classes grenades besides immolation grenade imo. Ogryn also needs more weapon diversity, just give us knuckle dusters already pleaase. I understand Ogryn is dumb etc which is fine and don’t expect any “complicated” weapons for it of course but just some more things would be good to have. It feels like a lot of it’s ranged weapons lack in damage output now and even in melee damage output is like OK but other classes just do it better at this point. Also, why can hivescum bring 4 rockets that can 1 shot packs of crushers and whatever else within it’s blast radius yet Ogryn can only carry 1 frag bomb of which hits like a wet noodle. I disagree he is weak, but I agree the frag is either too weak to warrant 1 quantity, or needs to be buffed to warrant 1.

Should just get 3 though, considering how insanely strong other class grenades are.

Crazy that the ogryn nuke doesn’t kill crushers etc.

Their decision to buff melee Psyker which already had higher DPS while nerfing Ogryn was a megamind balancing.

They increased elites’ hp but forgot to adjust Ogryn’s weapons so they don’t take 2x-3x times longer to kill compared to pre-patch, completely destroying weapons like Shovel or Knife which lost their Crusher oneshots/combos, which was the whole point of these weapons. There’s nothing wrong in Ogryn oneshotting a Crusher after he charges one attack for nearly five seconds (Shovel Mk5/9). The cleavers also went back to mid tier now that you can’t heavy→uppecut→2x hits a Crusher.

They also refuse to give Ripper gun more ammo that annoys me to no end. It should be an alternative to Twin-Linked Heavy Stubbers, instead it’s a downgrade to both ranged spammy playstyle of Gunlugger and accurate sniping from the newer stubbers on melee builds.

It’s also useless for Can Opener abuse since Crushers now have so much HP you’ll still require way too many hits after quickswitching to apply the stacks, and then switching back to deal damage with melee weapon.

At the very least they finally made Power Maul a great but balanced weapon, which is probably top 3 Havoc weapon after Bully MK3 and Pickaxes (or maybe top 4 after the shield). But the burn/explosion build on Power Maul is really fun.

I wouldn’t call him weak, but he is limited in many aspects again.

Forced to use taunt, 1st ultimate can be used, but it’s effects not can’t give more benefits than taunt and barrage ultimate got unholy cool down and zero ammo economy bonuses.

Few weeks ago I would suggest copy past bardin engineer ultimate, but i at this point consider him worst or 2d worst class in VT 2 and don’t see how similar ultimate would benefit ogryn and be better option than taunt.

It’s cooldown should be gutted and it should give melee bonuses on ending and infinite ammo while active. Also maybe add different effects to each weapon type, so there wouldn’t be rumbler spam.

Ogryn blitzes suck ass.

Rock additional talent should be baked in, rocks with and without it is in different dimensions.

Frag bomb is only one, no longer kills half elites in game within close proximity, still bugged and it’s effects get eaten by nearest obstacle or invisible walls.

Box deals almost no damage, it’s stagger effects don’t last long enough. Additional talent should be baked in. No more additional talents for any of his blitzes.

Weaponry got weakened, not only because talents got gutted, but also due to enemy changes aka health increase.

Right now i acknowledge only few weapon choices from already limited pool.

  1. Shield for stagger and defense.
  2. Paul, thanks to buff to it’s special I’d say it’s meta now.
  3. Pickaxes except branx, it’s fallen off from being worthy pick because of health changes.
  4. Grenadier gauntlet and to a lesser extent sniper gun, forgot what it’s called, for killing specialist enemies.
  5. Rumbler, which is also kinda fallen off due to health changes.

Everything else is bad now, some even in auric.

You know, for Ogryn… In my view, it solely depends on the person operating the class with their skill-level & what they’re using, right. I don’t think Ogryn is weak, but sure, he has limited options that you can utilize to become effective. Like, for me personally, when I Ogryn in Havoc-40, let’s say… I’ll have games where I don’t get downed at all not even once & that’s because of my map positioning/knowledge of the game & experience. Of course, people that don’t play on this level will suck its sort of obvious, right. It really is all about practicing & experience, that’s all. Once you figure out the core mechanics of Ogryn, you’ll be a-okay. But hey, some people just don’t get him either & they go onto other class & that’s fine. Just because people fail as him doesn’t make the class bad necessarily, it’s just that they lack the knowledge most likely or they play sloppy, thus not paying attention to one’s surroundings.

Yes, I do agree Ogryn is lacking in some departments. I do feel other classes have more advantages like boss damage, gold toughness, more toughness regen too. Ogryn to me has always been more of a support class in my eyes. What I really think Ogryn is great at is keeping everything in line for the team & off them too, whether it be staggering or horde management is where he shines the most, he’s a great distraction for the team. I don’t think he’s necessarily a DPS monster, unless you’re doing rumbler spam or some sht or just freakishly good at him & can out damage the team. He’s just great in other ways, that’s all. I strongly feel he vastly needs a bigger variety of weapons. It’s just been way too long it’s craziness. He’s too neglected in that manner.

It seems they should not nerf ogryn when this version started.

Play charge.

You don’t actually want an ogryn weapon with zero reach. Try using the knife punch and you’ll see how bad that would be. See how bad it would feel to not be able to actually replenish toughness in a horde just cause everything is outside your usual range.

Because his taunt stuns them and debuffs them or regenerates in like 20 seconds if hes in combat, and his charge can knock over literally sixty or seventy of them.

he is not weak but some of his weapons is trash as fuk

little blade = need bleed blessing

ripper gun = need rendering

shovel = feel useless

and worst of all………THE FRAG
