It’s really weird to try and rewrite history like Fatshark didn’t say things like a class every quarter, seasonal content, etc. Some concessions can be made because of things like reworking crafting/skill trees, but at the same time that’s not on the players to be responsible for their poor initial design being received poorly. (And for good reason) I still can’t believe they tried to pawn off the initial class designs as being unique from Vermintide careers when they literally copied skills and bugs from them such as Ogryn charge having the exact same bugs launch Foot Knight charge had. (Bonus: Beta Ogryn had placeholder talents that were also just renamed Foot Knight talents)
A lot of the concept art was made by a freelance artist, Miguel Iglesias, and the premium cosmetics are all outsourced as well. So you’re probably onto something.
Absolutely, Fatshark leadership carries a lot of the blame for the claims they made leading up to the release of the game. But a lot of those people aren’t with the studio anymore, as far as I can tell, so all I can offer is some insights into what I know of their actual, realistic, current capacity for production.
Not even allowing private groups to pick the map and mutators is just baffling to me, I really don’t get it, especially since you can play maps that aren’t on the board. This alone I think drives groups away when they might otherwise stay engaged.
As for regular updates, #1 gripe for me is how long it takes for critical bugs to go unfixed, or in some cases even acknowledged. Having broken weapons, blessings or talents for more than a month, mayyyybe two at most, is aggravating and perplexing.
As a SW dev myself, I can relate on a great many things and am empathetic to a fault, but 1 liner fixes and typos shouldn’t be retconned or grandfathered in (instead of going unfixed for fat too many moons).

I said why I thought it was jank, which is mostly due to the hitboxes. I agree the gameplay feels near perfect even for an older game.
It can potentially work that way with a melee weapon, which is why I said “can”, not every time will you swing your melee weapon and have this happen. This is why people hate the Tonfa even though it has the fastest swing speed, it has the least hit rays so it feels inconsistent.
I was bringing these things up to show that even though L4D2 isn’t perfect and is a 15-year-old game, thousands of people prefer it to Darktide. I love L4D2 and have been playing it a lot more recently.
No no, just joking. You’re right on every single account, it’s just the wording in “you need to” that I had to point out. It is truly the only way to enjoy the game, but phrasing it as “you need to” does come off the wrong way.
The only thing I think of that would fit in there with “you need to” would be “stop buying cosmetics”.
You dont think I know ive gotten my moneys worth? I never said I didnt. I just think its abdurd to complain about a fomo cash shop you dont at all have to engage with ever for any reason. I care about the quality of gameplay a cash will never ever deter me from playing a game and tbh thats a bit silly if you ask me. You can be mad that there is something you want that you cant have but there isnt anything anyone can do about that. The cash shop has nothing to do with playing darktide if you enjoy the game but obviously everyone is different and everyone has different desires. I dont care to support fatshark cuz i dont think they deserve my money but again thats just me. I will never in a million years let a fomo cash shop deter me from playing a game I enjoy when I can just ignore it and act like it doesnt exist.
I am the type of gamer that rarely ever buys games because most games suck imo. That being said I love making builds and rng and thats what drew me into playing this game and ive always loved the art style of the franchise from a far. I have always found games that I loved and no lifed them and studied them and played them to death and then I move on to something else and start the process all over again. I buy like 1 game a year not even cuz most games simply dont appeal to me and it takes a very particular game to scratch that itch for me its just the kinda gamer I am.
Fatshark fails to a baffling degree at the most basic QA to a level that honestly feels comical, seems to have given up on significant balance changes, and never communicates.
Strawhat seems to have mostly succumbed to the Fatshark Curse of CMs becoming silent after ~1 year working with them, and we consequently have nothing to look forward to or expect.
If people wanna chip in for air fare, we can fly over and fix some bugs at night when they’re sleeping, code gnomes.
It was fun while it lasted, I suppose.
On the plus side, FS CMs get to retire to a farm upstate, where there’s room to run and run and run all day, just ask Hedge!
i guess cms can’t do that much than gathering feedback and try giving to the Dev team.
and also probably every sentence said, has a weight behind. so unfortunately silence is preferred than “saying something wrong.” which could coincide for many, in lying. even tho obviously we would just prefer the honesty and straight facts/more infos
see in the case of solo mode being actually promised, but then turned out a lie, and who knows if or when, we will get it.

i guess at march (major update being currently playtested) but whether or not update will be good, big or small, it’s just a disappointment to have a 3 months schedule, for major updates everytime.
i would understand it if at least, there would been actually real “hotfixes” in the meanwhile.
how many months have been with excise vault not being present in the game, and so many bugs that people are begging to get fixed, but in every hotfix, it’s back to start, the most problematic bugs not being fixed still.
so it is understandable taking a pause, it’s been always like this
the fact it’s kinda a good game in term of gameplay and therefore addictive , it doesn’t help
but it’s better to come back, when there’s a major update and repeat
I would argue that THIS is what not having fun with it looks like.
< 4 hours. In those 4 hours I tried the game twice, hating it both times. AND it cost me more than DarkTide did!
Clocking up 1000 hours give or take then saying you’re struggling to still have fun? I’d say that’s highly valid. You’ve burned out. Sometimes relationships break down with no blame.
But bear in mind also that you’ve had probably 900 hours more than you got out of your average game. Looks like FS did okay-ish? No need to feel bad about it. Just come back if no other game scratches that itch!
