No new weapons this time

Maybe we’ll get some re-dyed prison garb cosmetics!

Yeah, the more info they let slip about the supposed “Big May Patch” the more I think it’s gonna be too little too late again.

Nah I’ll probably just stop playing the game for a while again. Sucks that this keeps happening.

  1. is bold statement, i raise to $10 that it wont happen

it just gonna be map, with some other map changes to introduce more door/elevator sections so map can be glued. we have seen plenty of map changes already where they were added.

and some buffs and nerfs and obligatory bugs

You say this but I would actually run chain sword and power maul with a different moveset. The two force swords proved to be the actual weapons they meant to do and not the weird all rounder no niche that’s Obscurus. PS6 is way more interesting to use than PS3. The update didn’t even break much. That was a good update.

Adding a new variant of a weapon that turns out to be better than the original one is effectively no better than just changing the original weapon, since the better one is going to be the one everyone uses. All it does is bloat the RNG that little bit more and force you to start the grind all over again.

Many of the weapons from that patch were good.
Both the Illisi and the Deimos were good and distinct weapons.
Both new shotgun patterns were more than just stats tweaks
The Heavy Stubber became the Good Stubber and the Two Useless Marks (per most ranged weapons)
The Power Sword just added an equally viable alternative mark, so that was good.
The Ironhelm is distinct from the Crucius and its up in the air which is better, I prefer the ironhelm though.

That is actually a pretty good outcome. Personally I powerthirst for the 2h Chain Axe. And, with any luck, all the chain weapons will receive much needed buffs. Buffs and Nerfs are within the realistic range of actual possibility with this “big content patch” so at least that’s not hopium.

Thank you… Lack of problems with falling asleep and being happy was getting on my nerves lately.
Now I can be wide awake at 3 am and weep in the shower every morning.

i do think they said “sizeable patch +content”

i think a map and a page or more of bug fix /balance chnges , maybe some cosmetics is about what we should be thinking is coming.

See, this is what I mean though.

The new force swords are just better than the original one, so now the original one might as well not exist.
Same with the stubbers.
The shotguns just got new specials, they’re otherwise just stat tweaks.
There’s no practical difference between how any of the powerswords are used.

Why add more variants when all it does is:
A) Bloat the RNG pool; or
B) Replace the old one as the best variant, thus defeating the point of adding new ones; or
C) Adds variants that are so similar to existing ones that they make no practical difference?

Surely it would be better to add weapons that are actually new?

They have dramatically different play styles.

Because new thing fun.
old one bad? buff it.
Deisu smart.

In what way?

You know what’s more fun? New thing that’s actually new.*

You’re actually joking. Did you just not play them and think “All 3 of them are shotguns, therefore they’re all the same.”

New weapon patterns are fine and I hope we get more of them. They provide different playstyles and ways to play. While obviously the balancing side doesn’t always come out as perfect, afterwards it will be great. Perfect example are the 2 Thunder Hammers. Crucis has more damage on specials and a simpler attack pattern. Ironhelm has a more adaptable but more complicated moveset and cleave on specials. For Shotguns, Agrin has the biggest focus with using the special slug to snipe, and is in general the more long ranged option. You don’t use it on chaff unless you’re desperate. Lawbringer can do both short and long range decent, but not as good as the specialist variants. Still useful because it does both well enough and has good stagger with the special. Kantrael is up close and personal, and you have to play way more aggressive with it. All 3 are just “stat changes” but can completely change the way you play around ranged.
