I don’t own one anymore but it was mixture of stories and rules per faction to include stats and in interview linked above specifically mentioned stats though it was a lead in question.
Yeah looking at abilities, special rules, and general stuff makes sense. But I think its pretty clear considering the next line is “No darktide is to play as humans” that they don’t see Ogryn as worth 1.3 space marines like would be the case if the game was balanced strictly off tabletop rules. Which is what I was arguing against by saying that the tabletop rules are not lore accurate.
thats the thing, the lore is not even lore accurate.. unreliable narrator be cursed..
the whole powerscale of 40k is utterly nonsensical and often contradictonary.
from accounts of devastating planetary casultries being somehow less than those of ww2 to emperor titans being 52m tall
warlord titan btw not even emperor class
its nonsensical to apply your own headcanon powerscale to the setting without scrutiny, and as i said before tabletop rules arent accurate thats true, but they still are indicative, you wont have a colossal deviation, some yes, but not colossal.
Since we’re hitting the wastes I think a wastelander would be a good excuse for some sort of a loyal mutant or beastman.
My guilty pleasure of a class want is a Spyrer, lesser nobles seeking to prove themselves by going downhive and tearing everything up. It’d fit thematically, what with everyone not shutting up about the nobles getting involved.
Biggest problem with this is that they’re ridiculously overpowered, but maybe Atoman Spyrers could be less drastically strong than their Necromundian relatives (the Lexicanum says that Spyrers are potentially exported to worlds other than Necromunda as they’re constructed offworld).
I wouldn’t mind more Necromunda stuff in general tbh…
Except all the colossal deviations like a imperial guard infantry squad being able to just gun down a custodian or primarch. The power scale in the setting is pretty consistent between depictions with minor deviations. The biggest difference is how things change over time, Marines being seriously power crept is the main one.
Yes GW cant do numbers for the life of them, every number they have ever given for anything is completely nonsensical. They have gotten better at it but they also have just stopped giving numbers for a lot of things. We just don’t get technical specifications for anything anymore. But the overall power scale is still pretty consistent.
Ship it!
well i still think Sister is a bit more likely, simply because how marketable they are. but overall pretty much the same two i see as most likely.
tho a sliver of hope remains they do votann kroot, or Tau allies but the lack of setup just doesnt seem in favor.
Sisters are close to on par with space Marines in terms of power scaling I thought, a mutant/a human/beastman makes way more sense.
Its 100% Eldar –
I do not see sisters happen at all. no appeal, jo is wrong. People like sisters of battle - to look at them and hear from them, not to play as them. and with the ugly darktide models, we are not getting any angelic repentias here, lets be honest.
and suggestions of Death Cult assassin are perhaps the dumbest guess possible (not so subtle jab at you know who). and this coming from someone that was really obsessed with them. But zealot covers both Sisters and Death Cult.
Has to be eldar. Would be a nice final touch. and people like elves, and games workshop is also moving towards that - it seems, they are fleshing them out or whatever the expression is.
and you can do them so well, new mechanic of threads of fate, it can be really really good.
“the faith aspects are covered Witchhunter and Zealot” there is no design space for Warrior priest.
community - we want WP they cool
FS: here have warrior priest
Except this never happened. People back then wanted vampire hunter or vampire Saltzpyre. No one, and I mean no one asked for warrior priest, and excitement was at minimum when it was announced. i remember it very very clearly. just go read the forum posts from back then.
I just remembered an interested aspect of Warhammer lore that could possibly make for a class and would end up with some hilarious banter. Pariahs. Psychic nulls. How they would implement it, no idea 0_0
i mean the stats of a sister superior and an arbites are pretty much identical, with the exeption that the sister has +3 instead of +4 and and +6 invuln safe (arbites gets none)
which admittedly is huge difference in survivability but considering the swaths of enemies we are fighting is probably fine

No but seriously, they didnt even consult on any of them - specially back then. they just did what they wanted. You think they are bad at communication now? back then, we literally got nothing other than aqshy that would never give out info but just talked with people. thats about it. I dont think players were consulted at all. Not like they are consulting us anyway, skitari feels like it was part of the plan, just not someting they wanted to release at the start. you do that now, to get new players after the game has released a while to give it a temporary but healthy boost.
Thought of this too, but then you couldnt have psychers in the same team. they would be completely disabled.
they didnt communicate, but they did always listen, they incorporated a meriad of community wishes and ideas. it is utterly obvious if you partook in the conversations, especially when the active Forum community was much smaller, and it was much easier to follow all hottopics.
