MELK (RNG Rage-rant)

Yes… I’ve asked nicely to get the topic reinstated, so I could vent on Melk for comedic and therapeutic purposes, and Living Saint answered my prayer…

Why?

Just wondering. Melk deserves all the dunking he gets.

Melk is still a Prick…
2 000 000 ordo dockets… it’s too much for desired missions.

Ugh… another 765 000 dockets gone… (I see my savings melting… I’m not going below 2kk!)

Some serious necromancy here.

Also, why would you waste time on Melk? He’s pretty useless once you have all blessings.

Wait a second, it’s Darktide meme posting thread, now I get it. Keep it up!

that pavlov stuff though is a hell of a thing.

knowing fully well i aint needing anything from melk to improve my gear, week by week i insist of the typical kill x ranged / monsters etc.

some dopamine’s missing otherwise :astonished:

so let me get this straight, every week you guys pay half a million in dockets to change your melk contracts? WTF for? LOL

just ignore melk and you’ll have thousands of melk bucks and then on the off hand chance he has something good you can get it, otherwise wgaf about melk coins to the tune of 500k dockets each week?

cause dockets cap at 25 million whereas melk coins “might” be re-utalized™ at a later point.

maybe,
probably,
hopefully,

cmon guys help me out here, i’m running out of straws.

yeah, pretty much this.

well if its a redeeming factor, usually under 50k and my oggy goes whacking.

no. melk changes your contract the first time at no cost, then he charges you 2500 dockets for every reroll with that character.

i always take only the kill x enemies and collect y materials, no books and never 3 or 6 runs without losses. only 1 without losses can be done quickly as sedition speedrun (if some people don’t manage to join and ledge themselves)

here’s the total cost calculated from 0 mastery to 20 for building weapons:

https://www.reddit.com/r/DarkTide/comments/1fpnf2l/comment/lpyxh4t/

this gets a lot cheaper when you already have mastery in everything. Just off the top of my head, empowering a grey weapon from Brunt’s to 500 costs about 100k dockets, 2400 plasteel and 1400 diamantine including a few greys. A single 2veg mission earns you 89k dockets, and how much mats on average, if you don’t have these guys who never pick up anything? You need about 2 auric maelstrom missions? While Melk’s stuff costs about 2500-3500 of his bucks, that’s perhaps what the weekly contracts for 2 characters are worth.

auric players can earn enough to craft something themselves much faster than with Melk. Still, i try to finish his contracts rather than throwing away his bonus, but he’s more a shop for new players now who want to level faster. which is a good thing when you feel like playing a certain class and not the one that needs a few missions before the week ends.

edit: and one important change: before, you were constantly crafting new stuff in hope of a god roll (or just gave up on that, as i did), so you had to farm. now, it’s enough to have 1 weapon of each family, you can remodel it as you like. or maybe 2-3 of them as i still do. and that’s it. no more farming for throwing away at the lottery and hunt elusive blessings. we can focus on actually playing and having fun. i just keep my stacks in case new weapons and / or blessings are released.

Surely Melk and Brunt’s (where are you?) store need an overhaul now that the latest crafting changes have gone through?

What role should these two shops occupy for

  1. New players, levelling up
  2. Mature players (+/++) who are level 30 or 300

?

As players are moving up through the ranks, these guys need to offer two distinct functions.
I’d advocate that:

  1. Brunt offers in-level grey-greens, but the in-play (not maxed out) stats are proportional to player level. So for e.g. a level 20 gets around 280 points allocated. A fresh level 30 gets 380 points allocated, but no blessings.

  2. Melk offers the above, but with purple/orange blessings. IDK what level the blessings should be, but my feeling is that lvl 30+ should be able to earn end game gear to shrive that grind.

Blues can take a hike.

For experienced players: the above :stuck_out_tongue:
IDK. That’s thought up on a 1 minute process. Does it work?

Anyway; reason I say this is so that Melk is still useful. Melk’s contracts should be just that. Three levels. When you’ve tripped a certain number of points, you get your weekly bonus. But all contracts get three levels so you don’t have to switch out, you can just keep playing to get more (to a point).

All contracts are on offer all the time. Maybe they’re worth less as a collective, maybe not. After all, there are plenty of 1-avatar players out there.

Weekly Melk besmerching post:

[Verse 1]
:guitar:
Yesterday…
All my dockets seemed so far away,
Now it looks as they’re with Melk to stay,
Oh, I believe in yesterday…

[Verse 2]
:violin:

Suddenly

Sad Mr Bean GIF by Working Title*

I’m not half well of I used to be.
There’s (Melks) shadow hanging over me.
Oh, yesterday came suddenly.

[Bridge]
Why they (dockets) had to go,
I don’t know, Melk wouldn’t say,
I pressed something wrong,
Now I long for yesterday.

[Verse 3]
Yesterday…
'Tide was such an easy game to play,
Now I need a place to cry away,
Oh, I believe in yesterday…

[Bridge]
Why they (dockets) had to go,
I don’t know, Melk wouldn’t say.
I pressed something wrong,
Now I long for yesterday…

I hate you Melk, I really do.

melk should be changed to offering medium tier (commissary < melk < commodore´s) cosmetics.

while the ideas above are good for newcomers, with the current system i doubt people not having everything to their liking by the time they reach lvl 100+

make him a “monster hunter” parts scrounger that turns certain things into armor parts.
heresy or not, when they sell green fingers as a trinket, the plague ogryn exhaust might be “salvageable” as well

ps: now that i remember it, one premium even had a skull of something as a shoulder pad.
so if these things “fly” with the inquisition let ogryn go :

So much this!

@FatsharkCatfish can you perhaps give us a wee inkling if there is possibly any chance that a shop overhaul could possibly be maybe somewhat chanceably thought about?

All I do with Milk is use my one free swap to remove that pesky tomes contract. Idc what else I get, its all easy peesy.
Id like to see Milk sell top stat gear like reds in Vermintide2 V2SeerBarsmall2

The price for each item could then be boosted to 10k milk tokens. This would be a lottery worth taking part in. Otherwise Milk is just another Brunt for DTVets i.e. the chance of good weapon stats.

I feel that… literally :joy: gotta get my fix man

Good idea, but I can’t agree with this part:

Skull could be from non-chaos tainted animal / enemy (trophy Space Wolfs style).
If you start taking trophies from Chaos tainted world, that’s a short way to get Mordant 13th treatment:

  • be deemed to have been too exposed to the horrors of Chaotic malignancy,
  • be annihilated as a precaution by orbital bombardment,
  • (maybe) receive posthumous praise, laurels and honours.

Since we are collecting scriptures, maybe we could get something related to Saint Messelina?
For example FatShark adds another collectible to be… collected, resanctified and used.
Some of the Commodore Hallowette garbs are connected with St. Messelina cult - we could get more of those.
