Massive visual glitch

Hey all, hoping someone’s seen this before. Every time I load into Vermintide 2, my entire screen fills up with endlessly duplicating icons and text saying “Open the Book of Ashur.” It looks like the UI elements spiral out and repeat hundreds of times until the whole screen is covered. I’m in game and can move, but all I see is black and the “Open the Book of Ashur”.

What I’ve tried so far:

Verified game files on Steam

Disabled all mods (even launched in mod-free official mode)

Deleted shader and config cache under AppData

Turned off DLSS, FSR, and overlays (Steam, GeForce, Discord)

Tried both DX11 and DX12

Updated and rolled back GPU drivers (currently RTX 5070 Ti, tried 581.42 and 581.57)

Clean reinstall of the game

No luck — same issue every time I start the game.

System specs:

RTX 5070 Ti

AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D

32GB RAM

Windows 11

SSD install

Just select a hero and start the game.

Sorry to hear this! Usually a clean reinstallation should resolve this issue. Though you’ve mentioned trying this. Did you fully delete your AppData? or did you save and restore a backup of your old user_settings.config?

In any case, it may be worth trying a clean reinstallation once more:

Otherwise, our other ‘go to’ solutions would be to try switching from Direct X12 to Direct X11 and reinstalling your GPU drivers, which it appears you’ve already tried also.
