Remove the context of the game being darktide from all of the comments.
Nothing about them resonates as anything healthy for a game’s longevity. The cosmetic shop has been a pain point since launch.

The store is definitely my biggest contention in the game (minus no Solo yet). I know why they do it; every other game does it now too. Even other games I’ve played for years have introduced FOMO rotation into their stores. The reality is that it works, and that’s all the bean counters care about. Morality be damned.
I really, really wish we could have an honest, transparent system. I don’t mind paying for stuff, I really don’t. Even with the blatant recolours, I’d probably buy a lot more in the store if I could see them all, all the time. As it stands I don’t buy what I don’t like, and when I take breaks and play other stuff I’m likely missing the rotations coming through I do like, so they still don’t get my money. I’ve bought Aquilas (smallest amount) a grand total of once to grab an item in the store since the game launched.
A better system that separates models and colours would be very welcome. Maybe bump the prices of models slightly, but make paints cheap to keep the ones holding the purse-strings happy?

seriously, i’d love to repaint the models i’ve bought, just like one can paint 40k miniatures. so one can indeed have a more unique, personalized skin.

I have to agree that the premium store and the lack of solo are the two biggest flaws in the game to me. I know other ppl have serious issues with balance and other stuff, but idc bout that too much.
A warhammer game with terrible customisation is a travesty! Even Anthems premium store was better and you could earn in-game currency!
There is a great irony in the choices made here.
They allow us to choose a voice, choose tattoos, choose our face,scars, and skin color… Down to eyebrows and eyes even. But being able to change the color of our armor (which is perhaps one of the most meaningful things you can do given that the rest of the customization is covered up with voice distortion or helmets) is a bridge too far.

I am incapable of stopping. The cope is core to who I am. If i did not cope I would suffer an existential crisis and as I would no longer have a coherent vision of who I am - I cope, therefore I am.

Not only that, but coloring and kitbashing your smol dudes is the essence of Warhammer.
If you look at the game, in 2 years there almost no side systems were added. They made some bad deal with Tencent or/and Microsoft and pobably owe them some money they are trying to generate through the overpriced recolored cosmetics. I believe they don’t even control and run the premium shop. It’s just a metastasis forced to have.
They copypasted Destiny 2 hub, but for some reason forgot to add quests and faction reputation system that rewards you with color schemes and cosmetics? When it easely could be done that Admechs give you red, rust, metal theme paints, the Water Guild gives you blue, green, aqua, etc?
Or killing Twins every season (with minor arena and conditions changes) gives you new cosmetics? Nah.
If painting system will arrive it will happen only after they are free from the contract slavery, not cause community pushed.
And speaking about solo mod - how would you see other players MTXs become jealous and throw some money to FS? No you need to observe others 24/7
