This ability is already under utilized so this is one way that could improve it. The biggest problems it has is it’s a static zone once placed and the gameplay of Darktide is not designed around sitting stationary. In addition to this, your teammates rarely stay within the radius which is already relatively small. Nuncio users know how much it sucks to use this ability just for the whole team to immediately relocate away from it. Just let the Nuncio follow the user around, it would be a lot more fun to use this way.
I feel the same when I play it.
Yep and 1 single push from a bulwark shield and you’re outside the radius too ![]()
Great idea, and this “buff” seems completely sensible. In its current form, it’s the less popular choice of the three, as the game simply doesn’t allow for this potential to be fully used, especially for a “team” (it feels like the main bonus for “team” is the faster revive, when a downed player simply cannot move). And it takes a very long time to recharge.
The dome shield works both internally and at range, blocking shots from at least one side. The stim crate keep working outside the zone as well (I’ve only seen maybe two high-level HS players using the regular stationary zone of effect).
Considering that the main trend right now is running forward, no one wants to stand still, not even the Aquila owner. And there are very few places where everyone should stand still and hold a single point.
I wouldn’t mind if it followed very slowly. Full speed would take away from the fun of good placement
Yeah, Nuncio-Aquila is a stationary Ability in a game where a lack of movement means DEATH.
I’ve always been in favour of Nuncio-Aquila following the Arbitrator who deployed it, although I’m not sure if I’ve ever expressed that sentiment on Forums. I don’t recall if it’s ever really come up in conversation before, though.
Heck, maybe it should be like Warrior Priest’s Ability in Vermintide 2 where you can CHOOSE to deploy it to follow either yourself or another Player.
That’s VERY fair, and I agree. You should be able to outpace a deployed Nuncio-Aquila and “get caught with your pants down” in a way.
This would make it possibly the single most overpowered defensive ability in the game. Worse than ogryn taunt. You can already fight everything while it’s down, and giving it the ability to follow you around would kind of ruin the actual decision of where to place it. If your team is pushing ahead then you put it in the wrong place. If you don’t need it to hold a choke comfortably, then you’re playing comfortably and you should save it for when you actually need it. The whole point of it is that it’s really powerful and takes some decision making to play optimally.
what would actually be interesting is if you could use dota style vector targetting to set a trajectory for the nuncio. just following you is probably too much
If following you is deemed too powerful then I think doubling the active area would be a fair compromise. It’s so tiny right now that a single bullwark push knocks you out of it
I think it would be so cool if a new subnode was made for it that follows tagged targets
This way you can decide which enemy should be debuffed, as well as which enemy you want to engage (or have a nuncio aquila over a target being mauled by the dog which is also very funny)
oh and while at it, make the voicelines louder and fix the duration of it so it doesn’t cut off in the middle of the voicelines anymore
If it ends up being too powerful then some of the buffs can be nerfed but I really don’t think it would be crazy OP. I think there is an argument to be made about how it’s meant to be placed with a degree of strategy like you said however in actual gameplay the scenario of placing it at just the right spot to turn the tide of battle rarely actually happens. Bottom line is in it’s current state, it’s just not that fun to use. Also I can’t control what my teammates do, most of them run out of the radius on their own. There are an infinite number of other reasons why you can get forced out of the radius as well though. The buffs themselves aren’t anything THAT crazy either. They’re good but not run altering. Having a relic zealot stagger everything for 5 seconds and provide DR/damage boost with gold toughness is more powerful than nuncio even when it’s placed in a great spot
At least an option to call it to our position by pressing the ability again would be nice. It’s a servo skull not a gramophone.
Wait.
It is a servo-skull?
WoooooW.
I didn’t know.
