i gotta know, if smokes are useless how is nerfing kraks going to help? i could have one(1) krak grenade and I’d still take it over infinite smoke grenades where the main descernable function is to crash my friend’s PC and make it impossible to see anything
The jokes write themselves, dawg ![]()
I hope that Fatshark adds a Needle Carbine first out of spite. ![]()
I only care so much about Darktide’s balancing because it’s bad enough to cause FUNDAMENTAL issues, personally.
If it was decent enough where everything was balanced, fun and viable around Damnation/Auric without this insane disparity in power level between what’s meta and what’s not meta, and Enemy spam wasn’t through the roof enough to create issues for Darktide’s audio, optimisation and pacing… I honestly wouldn’t care all that much.
SOME people are also acting like I kicked a puppy for making a meme to express my general frustration with the Ranged Scummers who are STILL overreacting to Pickpocket rightfully getting nerfed. I’m honestly probably going to take a break from talking about balance as much as I usually do, at least for the time being. I’m too tired of this nonsense to continue my streak of being “constructive” with people who’ll never actually listen to me.
Yo an actual consequence for flag abuse? I never thought I’d see the day ![]()
Your mistake was not dedicating several weeks to a dedicated thread attempting to patiently explain, via the Socratic method*, why good balance is a desirable trait in a game.
After that, you could start a similar thread on whether or not DT actually has a balance problem.
After that, you could actually start on solutions … assuming by then all your work in the first thread hadn’t been oh-so-conveniently lost down your disputants’ collective memory hole.
As in real-life, increasingly-bitter sarcasm while everything around you falls apart might be the saner choice.
*ie, ”dragged kicking and screaming.”
Ohhh, I get it now!
… If 100% Ranged uptime is your power, what are you without it? ![]()
I dunno, maybe it needs some work. Anyways, do any of youse wanna come to a party and crack Alcibiades with me?
Shocked posting under alts doesn’t cause this
I’d assume that’s because outright posting doesn’t attract Moderator attention like flagging something would. It’d probably take up a LOT of their time to actively look through such Posts on top of dealing with flags, considering that they’re unpaid.
You people do realize that Krak grenades are doing exactly what they are supposed to do right?
They are an anti-tank grenade using considerably more advanced explosives than what we have today. Something designed to tear apart the armor of anything less than a front-line MBT. Being applied directly to guys in partial bomb suits and scrap-metal armor. Of course its going to bloody DELETE the target. That is its entire purpose. To remove a single hardened target and anything stupid enough to be next to it when the boom goes off.
If anything Kraks are one of the very few things veterans got from Patch 13 that was done right. Good at deleting a single or tightly clumped group of heavily armored targets and taking a chunk out of a boss. And less-than-great at dealing with lots of low-value enemies that have even a modest amount of spacing, especially ones that move fast enough to leave the blast area before the boom. Go ahead, I dare you to try to clear a horde using just kraks in a random Damnantion. Please. I so want to laugh when you get booted from that group for being a total noob. Because you clearly have never actually used them outside of best-case situations or you would have realized their limits are not to be ignored.
If anything the problem is the one not one of you white knights is willing to address. Fatshark being lazy and stupid. They could have coded the non-poxwalker mobs to spread out at the first opportunity or to dive away if their buddy gets turned into a living bomb. They could have used sneakier tactics instead of elite/ specialist spam as “difficulty” and made maps that that didn’t try to ram an entire squad of orgyn into a barely-man-sized passage every 15 seconds. Instead the developers conciously decided to take the easiest and quickest way out. And now people are scratching their heads wondering why nothing in the pasted-on “sweatlords only” mode played by less than 5% of the players seems to quite fit.
How about before you open the spigot you call a mouth and let the stupidity you call words spill out, try insisting that the developers actually fix the issues with the game before demanding everything you don’t personally approve of being nerfed? Or is that too much for you?
They are apparantly not even explosive but implosive, literally ripping things apart.
A post that can be enjoyed for the vehement lack of regard for the points commonly raised not only in this thread, but in many, many others.
Are Krak grenades sticky or magnetic?
If they’re sticky, they should attach to any target they touch. There shouldn’t be any magical homing trajectory if you throw them randomly (as they currently are). This will at least require some focus and aiming to use.
If they’re magnetic, they should attach only to flak/carapace armor, and automatic trajectory adjustment is fine. Of course, among enemy hordes, they should have target priority and aim to ogryns first when they reach the magnetic activation radius. However, they shouldn’t stick to plague ogryns or beasts, and they should only stick to spawns when thrown right at the head or shoulder, where are little armor parts.
It varies, in game they seem to be both though back in the day they were only magnetic and didn’t stick to monsters.
Which would be another great way imo of letting kraks keep their place as a dedicated carapace-removal tool in a loadout alongside reducing their number and dropping their non-armour damage. Can’t really have threads of:
“FatShark it’s daft that a Vet can chuck 4 kraks at a [BoN/PlOgryn/Spawn] and drop it in seconds”
If Vets can only hold 2-3 which don’t glue themselves to non-captain monstrosities and don’t chunk them down with every explosion ![]()
Plus, their anti-captain usability is already somewhat self-limiting because of the void shield popping back up after dealing a certain % damage or however it works (haven’t played krak vet in a while now lmao), but maybe give them a high multiplier if they hit a BoN’s zit to reward a well placed throw in this scenario.
Boombringer is who krak wants to be when he grows up. He saw his older brother only become frag bomb and vowed to never let that happen to himself.
They got good balancing there? Heck you nearly sold me
See how this user didn’t care about OP’s comment on “generating unlimited grenades” as part of their “counter argument”
That’s because there’s no justification on why vet should be able to throw +60 kraks in a 45 minute game
Agreed with op . And i speak a Veteran main. Ideally all over the top AOE would be nerfed in one patch, to keep the playing field more or less even between classes: veteran kraks, psyker inferno staff (and possiblly the insane cc of smite), Hive Scum rockets and chem grenades.
My proposal to nerf Smite is to simply give Charged Smite limited “Charges” with an inherent Regen Cooldown, like Arbitrator’s Remote Detonation or Ogryn’s Big Friendly Rock.
Charged Smite’s issue isn’t its CC, but that it’s TOO SPAMMABLE. Psykers shouldn’t be allowed to just use Charged Smite for the entire Mission from beginning to end, it’s simply not fun to play alongside. If Psykers had to actually think about where and when to use their Charged Smite, they wouldn’t be inclined to turn our Missions into the Psykhanium anymore…
Keep Uncharged Smite available at all times to actually give it a PURPOSE, as it’s nowhere near as effective and safe as Charged Smite and thus holding it down the entire match won’t work out well for you. Basically, it’s always there for you if you need to quickly stun a particular Enemy, but that will leave you vulnerable to EVERYTHING ELSE.
