KNOWN ISSUE: Subtitle settings resetting / turning back on even when set to off

There’s an issue in the game right now that causes subtitles to turn back on after booting up the game again, despite having turned them off. Despite this, they’ll still show up as ‘off’ in the settings. We’re looking into it! In the meantime, you can disable them again by setting them to ‘on’ and then back to ‘off’.

All threads about this issue will be merged into this one.

Issue Description:

The game “forgets” that subtitles are disabled when it launches and you have to re-enable and then disable them again for them to actually be disabled. Whenever I start the game anew, the settings say subs are disabled, but they are still present.

Steps to Reproduce:
[Please add the steps that can help our QA department in reproducing the issue. For example:]

  1. Disable subtitles
  2. Restart the game
  3. Witness subtitles despite the menu claiming they are disabled

  5. Repeat every time you start the game

Getting this hugely annoying bug, too. It crept in with the 1.61 (or is it 1.81?) update during the beta phase last week.

Turn off subtitles,
turn off computer for the night,
turn on computer next night,
subtitles start appearing even though they are set to “off”
toggle subtitles on and off to fix.

Just wanted to add my +1 to this. Was in the Closed Beta, was fixed for the Pre-Order beta, and seems to have been broken again with the latest patch.

Same thing can be said for the letterbox opacity slider.
You set it to 0%
Close the game
Reopen it
It is still at 0% in the options but in reality it is showing.

Slide up and then down again to 0% fix it but I think it is clear that it is something affecting all the subtitle-related options.

Issue Description: I have Subtitles turned “off”. When I launch the game I see the setting is still “off”, but I see the Subtitles in the game. I have to toggle them on then off again before the setting works, for that session only.

Issue Description:

The subtitle settings revert to standard after restarting the game, however they keep the settings in the options but aren’t applied. Only after fiddiling with the settings (e. g. setting the size one lower, (without saving inbetween) then setting it on original again, then saving settings) the fiddled option is applied.

Starting the game

Yeah, I get this too.

Ditto

Same here

yup

same here, is there any workaround for this? weird that they get this settings reset bug on different settings across the patches

It’s so minor and nit picky, but this is so damned frustrating.

Issue Description:
Every time I log in in the game the font size of the subtitles keeps resetting to 32 even if my slider says it’s the number I set. I have to set it again by moving the slider again.

Steps to Reproduce:

  1. Set the slider to another font size
  2. Exit and re-enter the game
  3. Check the size of the subtitles and check the slider in the options

I also experience this issue. Set size and background opacity, restart game, sliders are what you set them as, but actually it has reset.
