This crash was using the experimental branch. Loaded into mission, instant crash.

Think I’m just going to uninstall this game for a year or so.

Sorry for the late reply. I had a busy weekend and I was doing whole tests today on my PC.

To answer your questions: I got a 500 GB SSD

No, I wasn’t running out of memory

And yes I did tried the Beta branch, sadly no good results.

I have to finally conclue that I might have to put this game in the box untill it has been fixed or I get a way better PC.

Turns out that I have a 25% bottleneck between GPU and CPU so, even when Fatshark manages to optimize their game, my PC would not be able to keep up. The PC I was playing on was from my wife and the more I am investgating this, the more I realized on how hard she got scammed. In essence the PC shop 4 years ago put a way weaker GPU inside a PC with a processor that is way too powerfull.

She always wonder why this PC crashes sooo much, now I know why. Thank god she got a better PC right now. Time to start saving for a new one of my own.

Ever since BETA, game has crashed constantly. From spending 2 weeks figuring out I couldn’t launch it because I had a virtual machine installed on my computer, to crash on launches and within 5 minutes of playing.

I play on windows 11 through steam, steam account; Steam Community :: (UGA) f13c

How do you reproduce? Open the game, 100% reproduction chance

Tried all the silly fixes including uncerclocking my gfx card (on what world is this a fix? Really? sort your code - honestly feel like you have stolen my money. So disappointed as I loved your game previously)

Sorry I assumed the RX 580 was a typo and you meant something like an RX 5800. Yeah a 580 isn’t going to cut it.

You can ask FS for a refund. They’d probably give you one if you put a ticket in.

After I change mesh_streamer to disable, mostly the game runs smoothly without crashes.
However, crash still exists, like several times in a week.
I noticed that some crashes usually happened when battle scene was very intense and someone wants to join the game to replace Bot. Without battles, someone joining the game can cause stuttering too.
Maybe devs could look up to it?

I could send them a ticket. But after some thought I was thinking of just saving up for a better PC and try again. I think by that time, the game would be updated and polished. I love this game but I need better hardware.

This has absolutely nothing to do with your hardware. The crashing is even more common on higher end series gpu’s such as the 30 and 40 series.
I have 2 systems, a 3090 and a 4090 and i crash constantly on BOTH systems like many others. All 7 of my friends have completely given up and uninstalled Darktide due to them constantly crashing .

The developers haven’t got a clue on how to fix it either so don’t waste your money on upgrading your system to play Darktide.
Personally i can’t see Fatshark ever fixing this crashing as they’re simply incompetent.

Like, how on earth can you as a developer release a game in this state when you knew how bad the crashing was from the early access beta. From all the thousands of reports you received before the game was even fully released, you choose to ignore the issues and release it anyway, then go on a holiday for the best part of an entire month.

Fatshark has no shame.

turning OFF “ragdoll interactions” fixed it for me so far.

Damn. Okay I understand you :frowning:

Someone told me that I better be waiting a whole year. I am kinda done trying to fix it from my end. The ball is now with Fatshark to finally patch it.

It seems that the major part of the crashes seem to come from Memory leaking. I never heard about this and today was the first day I found out after showing my gaming buddies the weird RAM usage numbers I managed to see with MSI afterburner. It also explains why the crashes often come later in the game and with increasing number.

There are programs in windows 10 itself to prevent memory leaks but that might do more ill than good.

Latest (12/22/22) experimental BETA Code for anyone looking for it
Link to dev post is above, the code is: cTYPtKTsfMDsLHAV

I suggest implimenting the experimental branch in this order:

  1. with game off, go to run(win key+r) > %appdata% > Roaming
  2. deleting the Fatshark folder (this defaults all system settings…your key binds and input settings do not get deleted)
  3. right-click on darktide in steam library > click properties
  4. click Betas
  5. select the ‘experimental branch’ option from drop-down menu
  6. input the code cTYPtKTsfMDsLHAV and click check code
  7. a small update will trigger on darktide in your steam library
  8. goto Local Files (still in properties page for Darktide)
  9. click ‘verify integrity of game files…’
  10. wait for it to finish, then log in…the game will self-load its recommended video settings as-if a fresh install happened
  11. either run it at these new defaults, or re-apply your preferred settings on the launcher AND in-game

Okay so, in the past week I’ve been crashing to desktop more and more. This is happening after I’ve done everything under the sun that I’ve found online and recommended for us players to do in order to cut down or stop crashing. This is utterly ridiculous. This game is kinda fun to play, but the constant crashing is got to be fixed and ASAP. I know of several players who’ve stopped playing because of this. You guys have know about this since the launch, and still have done nothing other than recommend this and recommend that. How bout just fix the game already. This game is already dying and its your fault.

If thats the answer to all of this crashing, why cant Fatshark just patch it that way and be done with it? Why should players have to go through all that garbage?

That being said, FATRSHARK should offer us a complete refund of our money for this screwed up game.

Have tried every fix on here including the experimental. Game crashes in the opening cutscene, character creation, playing the prologue. Can’t get to the end of the prologue because of this. Will be requesting a refund if not fixed.
