The Skaven profile picture has…changed you! You must be rid of it before its too late!
Nope. Mayson was always like that.
No, you can’t have shiny!
It is MINE!

Nope. Mayson was always like that.

More than half the people who’re complaining about DD aren’t even playing it I’d wager. Secondly: they’re looking at the MTX and immediately judging (letting their flag of ignorance fly so high that it behooves us to ignore them)… The first game had the exact same MTX setup – that’s a CAPCOM thing, apparently. Even RE4 remake had the same shite. It’s basically all either obtainable in-game or has very little impact. More people should be complaining about how TERRIBLY the game performs… I’ll blame that on the terrible optimization and the RE engine.
Ironically the MTX are the least of the issues with DD2 and the performance can also be worked around. To the Dragon’s Dogma connossoir, the streaminlining already rearing it’s ugly face might be the real issue.
Less spells, less spell slots available, stiffer movement for immersion’s sake, your control constantly being wrestled from you by stuns tumbles and fistbumps and more. I’m seriously worried this will become the next "CallOfDuty"fied franchise with it’s soul ripped out. Pawns for instance don’t learn anymore like they did in the first.
leave the company that can’t even post words on time alone
LEAVE EM ALONE
I don’t feel thankful towards a company that made a product that I bought with money that’s called a transaction especially one filled with horrendous priced low effort cosmetics. I especially don’t feel thankful when they promise support and then go dark for 4 months finally say something give and announcement for an announcement and then miss their own deadline for it for the 4th time.
So long as Fatshark continue to put on makeup and act the clown, I will not indulge in this grotesque display of thanking them. EDIT: For context, when I talk about the clown makeup, it’s specifically in relation to their latest fumble with the update about the update to the game.
I will say, I do enjoy the game’s core. But l - and this has been stated by so many others since the launch - am thoroughly disgusted by the way that FS have handled, what should have been, an easy product win. The mismanagement of such potential is borderline criminal (I would argue selling an Early Access Title as finished actually is, but that’s another issue).
There are plenty of titles with less resources, manpower, and without IP visibility that manage to accomplish so much more. Darktide is barely in a 1.0 state after all this time, and is still missing features that modders have managed to put live. The company has never really owned their failure, nor have they corrected the very attitudes and actions that led to it.
Bashing on Helldivers 2 is your prerogative, but it’s success and continued support undermine your argument. I have friends who are not 40k fans, but they do love coops. They are all playing HD2 and played less than 10 games of Darktide (I even bought it for a couple). They just could not get past the incomplete feeling of the game or the bugs. And they refuse to give it another chance. That annoys me as this game COULD have been legendary had the company just been open, honest, and I dunno, dedicated. And yes, I say dedicated. Launching a half finished game with tons of bugs that prevent it from being played, then leaving for vacation/holiday with no support? Come on. That’s not heart, that’s corporate check boxing.
I will never understand the acceptance of mediocrity (that’s generous) in the gaming sphere. Then again, Fatshark accepts it, so why not the players?

Pawns for instance don’t learn anymore like they did in the first.
I thought pawns always had brainrot, personally. Even when they “learned” something it wasn’t useful. Hell, even when completing quests they were supposed to gain “quest knowledge” to pass on to others playing the game, that feature borked all the time; it still does in DD:DA – my main pawn is incapable of understanding any of the strategies I’ve employed against The Gazer, Bishop or Daimon. But they LOVE parroting “WOLVES HUNT IN PACKS!” or “GOBLINS ILL LIKE FIRE!”

Big group of people make shiny.
Mayson like shiny.
Mayson cherish shiny.
Mayson like big group of people who make shiny.
Mayson pay shiny to get other shiny.
There is so much wrong with that statement, that I won’t even bother.

If FS went down abrubtly, I would be very annoyed by it cause no other company offer similar gameplay. That’s why I’m not as angry as some are here
That is the exact reason why trashy companies like FS can keep players (’ wallets) hostage. If you like something, then be willing to put it down in case it gets an incurable disease and suffers needlessly. I’d be glad if FS went under, given their track record and past behaviour.
Something will come along and fill the void sooner or later. Best case scenario it’s ex-FS devs resposible for the combat system. A much more likely scenario than FS becoming a competent dev.
I wish I could still be this jovial and appreciative. But that was 800h and 15 months ago.
I also wish I could see videogames with the same abandon, but that, alas, was 20+ years ago.
Good on you to enjoy what you play. It’s important for me too. That’s why I can’t even look at DT for more than an hour before I start having this sinking feeling that I’m wasting my time.
As to the points that didn’t have another game attached or simply pointed out something personal (which, now that I read it again is the majority of your OP)
It’s certainly one of the best 40K games out there.
…and. Umm… That’s it, I guess.
I don’t mean to denigrate your post, I usually suppose sincerity when someone takes the time to write more than a paragraph. Here is some more sincerity, just to keep it even: (Personal) New Year Reflections and Retrospectives

That annoys me as this game COULD have been legendary
I think that’s a background thought that makes a lot of doomers on the form like myself squirm.
This game had the recipe to be something groundbreaking and special but it was a really bad look on launch when the cosmetics shop worked but matchmaking and other aspects didn’t.
Sure I tolerated it because the gameplay was great as I tolerated the crafting because the core was so good but it was clear the main sentiment among friends was that even though the game was cool there were tons of obnoxious aspects like crashing and other issues. When the class update came out a lot of people at our told me no when trying to get people to come back. When the twins were released I didn’t even bother asking.
This wasn’t an overnight decision or even because of Helldivers coming out. It’s really frustrating to see something that could shake the industry just trip and fall flat on its DI- ahem, nose. Meanwhile other games like Starship Troopers are still releasing updates or giving sone preview of what’s to come.

- FS doesn’t own a patten to the gameplay, so saying that they are keeping my wallet hostage (which laughable when I’ve haven’t bought anything else since launch)
- I’m OK with the faults as long as I get my gameplay. If you aren’t you should be the one to put it down as you say.
But you won’t
So long as they’re the only ones providing this type of gameplay, especially with 40k in the back no one would bother challenging their niche market.
Hence the need for them to deservedly go under, to make room for possibly more competent and less greedy devs.
And you’re mistaken. I haven’t played the game in months. Only reason I even bothered to check the forums again was the update notification or rather the announcement catfish made in March.
I’m having a blast playing Dragons Dogma 2 honestly.
Well said OP.
Fatshark definitely has their issues, as does Darktide. But then so does everything else in life. And even if the issues with most known games or devs aren’t as bad as the ones we got here, neither are the positives. It’s been 1.5 years soon since Darktide released, yet I’m still here. I mean… I have ADHD, I don’t do this. I don’t play one game for more than a few weeks. I may revisit later, sure, but not like this.
At the end of the day, even while deeply disappointed in the customization options (faces & hairstyles especially, not to mention something more like body types, make-up, more voices, emotes - and no hub doesn’t count -, more expressive clothing & armor with colouring options etc.), biome & enemy diversity, almost complete lack of any story, yes the RNG gearing and so much more… and especially the bugged specials & “leaver gets nothing” combo which basically means I probably don’t get any progress or rewards for over half the time I’ve spent playing over the past several months. (I’m not proud of it, but I just can’t stay in a match where the AI activates its cheats for the 2005:th time and a soundless trapper or whatever downs me, I just can’t)… Even with all that. There’s nothing else like it. Just, nothing.
I’ve never played a single game with a gameplay, build variety, and basic gameplay loop as deeply satisfying and creative and full of twists and learning and fun as what Darktide has! It’s literally a miracle of the gaming world to me.
As for Helldivers 2, idk much about it but it just doesn’t strike me anywhere close as interesting. Might give it a whirl some day but I have a huge backlog of games to get to after I get over Darktide anyway so that’s gonna take a while.

I don’t even know is it funny or sad reading this recap of what isn’t there but should be because it’s market standarts and evolution of Fatshark’s ideas from previous games and just overall is a common sense to have in your game.

I don’t even know is it funny or sad
Why not both?
No need, i run wounds build. Emotional wounds.
I watched as a healer stand right next to a player actively being mauled by a wolf and instead of just hitting the wolf to free the player
The healer kept healing the player to prolong the mauling

No need, i run wounds build. Emotional wounds.
I see. Then we should work on maximizing your damage. Any way I can hurt you further? You got a waifu I can deride? Or will calling you a Schizo over and over do the trick?
Pawns definitely learn things. My pawn has learnt to grab and suplex enemies that they can’t otherwise hurt (like rock rattlers) since I levelled Trickster and that was one of the few ways to damage things as that vocation.
They do still have brainrot but they do learn things.
