If crafting is going to be RNG, why are we getting locked out of perks we end up re-rolling when refining and adjusting our weapons? Why does it get more and more expensive?
It sounds like a system designed to punish the player for engaging with the game further instead of encouraging and rewarding them for interacting with the metagame and experimenting with different options and perks.
Crafting materials are already RNG to acquire and in turn much slower to gain than that of VT2. The fact this crafting system is being drip-fed to us ontop of being really ‘oof’ before it’s even out, is just choking the replay and longevity of the game with it’s current content release before they add new missions and classes/characters.
Like really, what else am I to do after clearing Damnation across the board and getting all the penances? I can’t bother optimising my characters since somehow the crafting system is a massive step-backwards from VT2 from the sounds of it and would be demanding far too much of my time in comparison to VT2 especially since resources aren’t even shared between characters which just further makes the whole situation worse.
It only has the potential to waste your time and disappoint you as everything you do there is still RNG despite earlier claims made by Fatshark.
This is a ridiculous unfun system, again completely ignoring Player Agency. Restoring an item from Gray Quality, working it up the ranks. fixing it’s stats and rerolling for the Perks you want is MUCH more respectful of the Player’s time and choices than ensuring there’s still a chance the Player will grind all these materials only to not get the desired result.
This is ridiculous, backwards and just awful design.
People have already said what I wanted to in this thread.
I can believe things like weapon customisation were removed for balance reasons, like how they have it in Rainbow Six Siege so you can’t just stick an ACOG on every weapon.
But at the end of the day, it’s impossible to believe anyone in the dev team could look themselves in the mirror, and say with a straight face ‘We are being respectful of our players’ time’.
The bugs, crashes, cash shop, none of these made me leave a negative review on Steam. But this was the final straw, because it legitimately shows how out of touch the design team must be if they think this is the right way to go.
How about you make some more engaging content like levels, bosses, classes and missions, rather than trying to trap us on some condescending hamster wheel?
BS on the balance thing, though, making sights shite on purpose is not balance, its stupidity on a glue-eating level. This is a game in a power fantasy setting, not everything has to be balanced on the “just below good enough”-level, imho, nothing has to be balanced around that. There is nothing wrong with stuff being fun. There is no PVP part, balance is a non-issue unless the gaps between them are on a ham-fisted level, everything can be quite coarse, besides weapons being useless enough to not be fun obviously.
Everything else, take all my hearts, mate.
When I say balance, I mean more in terms of weapon variety. Like at the moment, I go Kantrels because they have a sight making them good at general marksmanship for most ranges. The fact that Accatrans don’t have a sight makes the two guns feel more distinctive.
Like legit if I could, I’d stick an optic on my bolter and just use it for easier sniping lmao
In an ideal world they’d balance guns so that sights reduced mobility or increased recoil or something. But that’s a pretty involved system, so I’m willing to tolerate what we’ve got. Hopefully it changes in the future.
And you should be able to if it makes the weapon more fun to you, not only because that is something people in 40k setting actually DO to, well, hit stuff better. On that modular stuff there really can’t be any room to discussion. If such simple system, implemented in countless titles, fitting to the setting, and basically implemented already according to previous footage is too much to handle… there is no helping this people.
I will bumb every single thread about it as this is just dissapointing, horrible and staright predatory. It’s all to increase RNG grind, to keep you from aquiring stuff you want, keep logging for RNG store every 60 min to get that item you want with good roll you want and now with PERK you want. Increase amount of loggins, increase amount of players time in game (even by forcing them by design), decrease chance of casuals to “finish” game (get items they want) by keeping them away from good loot (casual playes like 1-2h a day, that’s only two RNG store rolls!), keep hardcore players/optimizers of hunger for that “perfect rolls” manipulating them into mindless grind in chase, all to artifically increase increase number of hours and log ins.
All in hope that they will leave $$ in cash store.
It’s an tested and old tactic in asian MMOs and mobile games.
This also covers lack of content as you increase GRIND to keep people occupied so they don’t start ask questions: why only 4 classes, why only 13 missions, where is content? When new content? When promised features?
Just wait until we also have to find the weapon with the right blessing that’s already T4 (which is damn near impossible as I’ve never seen a blue weapon in that store with higher than T1, because we’ll only be allowed to exchange one.
And then to actually get that other blessing we’ll have to find 4 other weapons or heaven’s have mercy on us 16 because you need a 2x Tier 1 to upgrade to T2, 2x T2 to upgrade to T3 and 2x T3 to upgrade to T4.
I have to disagree with you partly, the things holding back the potential of the new crafting system is the weapon store with its awful variety and time gating, and the restriction on re-rolling only one perk.
The whole idea of loot progression being tied to an hourly RNG store instead of loot per mission completed is completely bonkers. But yes, IF we are stuck with the store, they need to give us the option to refresh the store. As often as we want, for free. It’s the least they could do for imposing such an absurd system on us in the first place.
I don’t think rerolling the store is the right direction to go. This new change restricts what a good weapon is even further, to the point that the whole crafting system seems almost pointless. We need to get a nearly perfect weapon from the shop, so what does this system add? Tiny tweaks to our slot machine winnings. I think rerolling the store, while an improvement in the sense that we get more chances at that perfect weapon, is just sinking deeper and deeper into the RNG nonsense.
Crafting should provide a linear path towards reaching our ideal weapon through gameplay. We play the game, get materials, make improvements. Repeat until happy. And if you want to change your perks/blessings later, you should be able to. If the store re-rolled, that doesn’t give us linear progression - the path towards a good weapon would still be completely random. It could take 4 spins of the store to get your ideal weapon, or 40,000. Again, it’s just a slot machine, and the solution isn’t asking for more spins.
Oh I absolutely wholeheartedly agree. Instant and free rerolling of the store would simply be a bandaid, until they hopefully create a much better progress system, and a much better crafting system. You’re absolutely right that with how they’re planning crafting, even being able to instantly reroll the store would give you a miniscule chance of getting the weapons and curious you want.
