Chaos Wastes has the potential to be the most replayable mode in the entire game and the one capable of keeping players engaged for the greatest number of hours. Unfortunately, for a long time now it has suffered from a lack of map variety, which makes runs feel increasingly repetitive.
The last news I remember from 2025 mentioned that more maps were planned. Even though we’ve gone more than half a year without any announcements, or even a mention of Vermintide at Summer Game Fest, I’ll try my luck and bring this up once again: Chaos Wastes needs more maps.
I imagine that designing maps for Chaos Wastes is, in some respects, less demanding than creating full campaign missions. If resources are being allocated toward new campaign content, surely some could also be dedicated to expanding Chaos Wastes.
I’m confident I’m not the only one asking for this. Additional Chaos Wastes maps have been one of the most requested features in the community for years. Just because people aren’t posting about it every day doesn’t mean the demand has disappeared.
So consider this another reminder: Chaos Wastes still needs more maps.
Another opportunity to shill my mod if anyone’s interested. It’s not a substitute for Fatshark actually adding some new maps to the Chaos Wastes, but it does allow you to pick which adventure missions you might like to try in the Chaos Wastes. It even has special lighting effects for cursed missions, it comes with plenty of options to fine tune your experience (starting coin, coin multiplier, boon/trait tweaks, banning specific traits/boons).
If you have any bugs, give me your log in the method described in the mod description, and I’ll fix it. If you have any suggestions, I can feasibly implement most anything, so try me.
That said, adding campaign missions to the pool is not at all the same experience. I like it, but they are a lot longer and they can be a lot more difficult at times, and you’ll get a ton of coin in my mod unless you turn the coin mult down because of all the pickup locations spread throughout the mission. Still, I had a blast.
The system of this game mod isn’t enjoyable for me. High chance of bad builds, invulnerability to ranged weapons made it undesirable after some patches. But good luck.
If you ever get around to trying modded, with my mod, you can ban specific boons, traits, curses, or grudgemarks. I generally play without Rampart (Ranged Immune) and Barrel Boons for example.
