The reason being is there are few if any moments where range combat makes sense considering the sheer volume of mobs that just spawn behind you over and over again and then start smack you. To the point where you can’t even kneel to take an aimed shot, even after clearing a horde, to take down a mob in the distance. In fact, it just makes more sense to go mostly melee as a sharpshooter since you don’t really have any meaningful range purpose in this game.
skill issue
Big skill issue. Your class is easily the best balanced in the game.
Ranged is currently a lot better and more fun then melee, except the powersword. Get a recon laser until you get used to the game, and wear a headset so you can hear the shaaaaaAAA Shk" just before you get hit in the back.
Get a decent Mk II braced autogun and never use melee again.
Clearly never played vermintide before.
Awareness is keyword for tide games, no metter friends or foe.
just to add somethin constructive, the endless hordes of zombies are best to deal with in melee or with horde clearers like flamethrowers or some psychic staffs. as SS you deal with shooters and elites from range.
The game has a sound effect a few seconds before you get hit from behind.
It is more than enough time to swap to melee and block, just get used to the sound and listen to all sounds around you.
Secondary benefit is you will get used to picking out distinct sounds in the chaos of battle so specials wont sneak up on you…other than snipers you’re just screwed if they don’t miss their first shot.
Pro tip as a fellow sharpshooter:
The remaining stationary perk is useful, make sure to post up and in a good position.
This next one is super important block covers a 360 degree range, switch to your melee weapon it’s faster than reloading (meme status achieved)
And finally there is an audio cue when an attack comes in from off screen, pay attention next time your out. It sounds like a blade cutting though air or glass being shattered. If you hear it dodge immediately, picks direction, use the audio cue.
