I was a d*ck yesterday

Sorry, but here’s a useless and completely personal anecdote I’m not proud of but just had to post somewhere:

I’m pathetic. In an Auric Dam run in Enclavum Baross yesterday, I was a gun psyker and the only one carrying an ammo box. In a very hectic fight, two vets who seemed fairly new to Auric needed ammo which I completely missed which I tend to do when the s**t hits the fan (had trouble with this since VT2). Anyway, the only message I saw was ”drop the ammo d*ckhead” from the least performing of the two.

I’m a grown-ass man but pathetic as I am I couldn’t let it go and once we finished I wrote ”ggwp” followed by ”even you deadweight JakStein”. His buddy reacted with ”psyker with a gun lol” to which I responded ”still owned you and you’re a vet” then left. Reading the log afterward I saw that they had spammed I need ammo like 10 times before dropping the dickhead comment, and I responded by being rude as f*ck.

I love this game and want to be a force of good in the community and I have no idea why I reacted this way yesterday. I even tried adding one of the poor guys (the other one seemingly blocked me) to say I’m sorry but with how the Steam community works he’ll def never add me back.

So while there’s no chance in hell you’ll see this, @Doc and @JakStein: I’m sorry. Especially to JakStein who I called out like that. I’m a f*cking idiot and I’m sorry that I acted this way.

Weeell… as long as you promise to be better in the future?
Maybe go for Penance Crusade - 100 (successful) Auric missions with only warp based ranged equipment. With this Emperor should forgive you. He might not, but that’s a start.

Demon. You’re a Demon but you don’t know it.
MOBAs will bring the worst out in you.

Do it. Download Dota 2. Or League of Legends. You must feed the beast! YOU MUST!

To be fair, between the random banters and noise during stressful combat and the chat being a small little box on the far left of the screen (especially on ultrawide), stuff like this is super easy to miss. I’d go as far as to say, it’s almost impossible to spot really.

Which is why I’ve found the only way to do it is to keep checking for the team’s ammo yourself between fights. And if they’re low but you’re still saving it for something bigger down the line, then make a mental note of it in case there’s a big fight or several to keep checking more frequently just in case you should drop it now. Not criticizing you mind, just saying what works for me. :> But then I’m a lifelong healer main so checking the party status is instinct. Well, usually.

That said, calling you a d*ickhead over a simple if annoying mistake, nevermind even saying something as inane as “psyker with a gun lol”…? You don’t instantly jump to personal insults or denigrate an entire class & a popular and well-known strong build without being ignorant, dumb, and toxic. Your mistake was unintentional, theirs was deliberate. Those are precisely the sort of people I instantly add to my blocklist everywhere I can.

From what I can see, you’re a far better person than they were.

They shouldve thanked you. They probably improved, half things considered.
I aint the one to promote dispicable playstyles but I’ll put sum respec on it and the person running it when deserved.

PS, do console players see and access the chat box in the same way? Prolly not right?

from my personal experience, people rarely actually need ammo they sit on their last 10%-15% like its holy and only ever shoot again once they could fill up.

I never drop ammo unless at least one person is in his last magazine/reload, and i’ve gotten insulted dozens of times for it.

especially annoying if 3/4 players managed to conserve/ stay topped off.
its totally fine for 3 players covering a single one with little ammo, a team rarely misses a crucial aspect, if one guy has to be conservative for a bit.

the opposite side also tho, its also a problem if things actually getting heated, and you be like nuh uh ain’t your last bullet not gonna drop ammo, then your also not helping.

tl:dr be conservative with resources, but don’t pretend their holy

it always boils down to awareness (including other’s health/ammo) and proper decision making

dont worry too much dude, there´s a reason i don´t record my voice when playing with buddies, so people only hear one part of it afterwards :smiling_imp:

some callouts leave no room for sugar coating and the ends do justify the means in my book, so lets summarize : you pulled your weight, match was successful, few bad words were exchanged:

normal monday morning

Vets needing the ammo box before a gun Psyker does is pretty cringe in the first place if I’m being honest.
