… I really, really enjoy this game! I read all the negative reviews all over and yeah, the great majority of the constructive criticism are on point. I see the lack of content, the missing crafting, the rng mechanics, the technical & performance issues, the awful poxhound (by the emperor I hate it how one poxhound can fu.ck up a whole flawless run), the cosmetic shop + the high prices and all the other addressed points… These all must be improved! The God-Emperor of mankind demands it! .
But regardless, I have really a blast when I dive into the depths of tertium city to bring the emperors holy wrath to his enemies! I mean I play the same missions over and over, but I have a blast every single time when I crush heretic skulls with my power hammer, cut them in half with the glorious Eviscerator, see them bursting into a red cloud of guts when I shoot them with my holy bolter or laughing like a total insane because the whole team beats the sh.it out of an monstrosity while listening the on point music from jesper kyd (kuddos to him for this Art)… I don’t know man, maybe I’m just to easy to entertain! But here I am, like all of u guys, hoping for a sign from FS how they will fix all the stuff that need to get fixed! I really hope they get their sh.it done in time so everyone can enjoy this game like I do it.
There is only one last thing to say: Don’t abandon this game to early my fellow agents, this is the only WH40K coopgame we get for now! See u guys in the warzones of tertium! For the emprah!
Currently I’m just checking the forum every so often, there isn’t a reason for me to log into the actual game at the moment. This game could have used an extra 6 months in the oven and a few open beta’s for feedback.
This game is like driving an amazing car in a shitty city.
No matter how good the car is or how great it feels to drive it…
If the roads are filled with potholes and all you see is half blocked roads with construction signs but no crew around, you aint gonna enjoy driving it for long.
Precisely.
I really enjoyed the actual gameplay of Darktide and had plenty of fun.
The problem lied in the constant crashes (despite running flawlessly 80+ fps on medium/high settings), loading times and server issues. Never played enough to get to the min-maxing part of the grind, as I was content just leveling up characters.
Fatshark got something going on but they decided to crap all over it, and that frustrates me greatly.
Most people agree the core gameplay is great. The problem is the bugs, certain balance issues, unfinished crafting and other missing content that were supposed to be on release.
Oh and lack of mission and map variety, and no real end-game beyond checking your shop every hour.
When Fatshark fixes these issues the game will be good.
Tiny mistake there thinking that a beta in any amount would have fixed this.
Betas are for troubleshooting the game - ie. quashing as many bugs as possible and testing on as many different setups as feasible to find sneaky bugs.
Alphas are for testing if a feature works as intended and whether it is good.
In an ideal world you invite people for both phases, but most game companies skip the Alpha invites which tends to lead to… horrible features and go straight to beta at which point feedback on features are too late.
We had feedback from the Pre Order Beta, pointing out a lot of the issues that became apparent later, but there was little to nothing done to alleviate those problems.
If anything, they made things worse (nerfs to Psyker and Zealot) or fixed “bugs” that would have helped lessen the bad design choices (crafting mats rewarded even if the mission fails).
This is true, they should have had alpha waves first, then make sure things actually worked and were enjoyable. However you can tell some things were designed to be tedious so the Corporate Ghouls would be happy.
Honestly i don’t want to abandon it too early. I was even like: Yeah, lets just play a little bit, lika a few missions a week to “stockpile” some crafting mats. So I enter a heresy missio and ofc some dude and his friend do the speedrun penance for Zealot, it fails ofc. We wipe 20 odd minutes in.
I quit the game.
Found myselfe logging in again, checking shops. Walking up to the mission board hovering over the quick play… and deciding not to do it.
It is not just “Ohhh man i am pissed about their broken promises and lack of content” anymore. I am actually not interested in playing DT at all right now.
But OP i also hope it will one day be the 40k coop game we all deserve!
Yes we are aiming for this week, and hopefully earlier rather than later in the week but I can’t confirm a day right now unfortunately. But as soon as ready i’ll make sure to publish it on our official platforms!
