How is empowered smite psyker still allowed to be this broken?

I just decided to remake my old empowered smite psyker build because I haven’t seen people using it at all. Figured it must have been nerfed, I mean surely that ridiculous nonsense wouldn’t be allowed to stay in the game right?

Nope. Joined a mission about 10 minutes in, still got 700k damage (half the team’s damage), 20k enemies staggered, and turned auric into a literal walk in the park as practically all the waves got instantly deleted without even getting into melee range. The only reason I took any damage is because that team didn’t know how to shoot gunners outside of my range.

How is this okay? I have to imagine no one at FS play tested empowered smite + venting shriek. Of course it falls off a in havoc but this build literally turns auric maelstrom into a walking simulator.

The build I put together in less than 2 minutes without any optimization just to see if it still worked:

Swap shriek for scrier’s. Win game.

No? Scrier’s in this build would suck. This build just keeps smite up the entire game and spreads soul fire, it uses venting to keep smite going for double the duration and spread massive amounts of dot.

I guess bump the damage but you have no good way to maintain scrier’s for any amount of time since this is just a smite bot.

You have definitely been away for a long time. I’ll rephrase: spec Warp Unbound, win game.

Yeah warp unbound only lats for 10 seconds though and your only getting like 10 stacks of scrier’s unless you quell for 30 seconds. This just sustains smite for a shorter amount of time and doesn’t do as much damage as giving 6 stacks of soul fire to the entire map.

Besides the main way this maintains smite is through battle meditation and the soul fire stacks kill things faster to trigger that more.

Regardless it really doesn’t matter, either way its too good lol.

*along with Immaterial Focus.

Now you can spam Smite all game even if you get hit

It’s so boring though…

Yeah I didn’t really think of Immaterial focus lol. Not that it is really even needed anyways considering this turns off the game.

Psyker is still allowed to literally cheat with deimos and purg macros so I don’t expect him to get nerfed ever.

What if I told you this works also in Havoc up to 40? The most bizarre AND fun removing ability in the game.

There will always be that one Bruiser with the home run uppercut though or the poxwalker Nurgle just resurrected right behind you - especially in higher difficulties, Immaterial Focus definitely has a use with Unbound Empowered Smite build. It could easily be the difference between wasting a Psionics charge or not.

Well it kind of works in havoc but your hitting the limits of smite spread at that point so its not exactly as good as just turning the game off.

Well yeah fair, Ill probably run it instead of lightning speed in the future. Though you can still dodge with smite active, and you have 6 dodges so idk it wasnt really a issue for me. Maybe up in havoc but like this is the most boring build ever and if its not deleting the entire game then I don’t see the point of using it. Id rather use something both more fun and better for havoc lol.

That’s true, I suppose at that point it’s optional. I just see it as a “safety” tool to lessen the chance I lose a charge. Otherwise it’s a bad Talent. Here’s the build I’ve been running, still get Soulblaze through Perilous Combustion and Penetration of the Soul helps to max Smite damage. Spam clusters of weak Elites like Shotgunners will ramp up those Soulblaze stacks pretty quickly.

You’ll easily chain Scrier’s Gaze activations on higher difficulties.

Lol Deimos secondary heavy knocking Crushers on their butt and some of the best dodge stats of Psyker’s melee weapons, plus 120% Rending for the neverending PC soulblaze stacks. Mega balanced.

Its really funny to me how many people complain about the dueling sword but the deimos is just kind of better and no one seems to care for whatever reason.

Dueling Sword is available on more classes and charging the heavy attack with slide spam is way better mobility IMO. Uncanny just needs to be gutted, it’s the most busted part of both weapons. Then maybe some weapon Stat tweaks.

Yeah both could use a nerf. Its just funny that the demos has the same carapace DPS, better hoard damage, and a jedi force push that hard staggers bulwarks and crushers for basically free. Its literally the old DS special attack but it also works on bulwarks… And this is okay I guess?

It would be fine if there’s a long enough stagger resist period that doesn’t allow for back to back stagger on Bulwark. I think it’s more the overwhelming Uncanny debuffs against armor for strong heavy attacks and synergy with Soulblaze that make Deimos such a powerful weapon.

If Uncanny was gutted first (40% Cap and no DoT buffs), then it would be one less variable in the mix, and more focus could be used on scrutinizing other eyebrow raising aspects of Deimos.
