I just uninstalled the game and won’t be coming back for a few years if ever. If I could still get a refund i absolutely would. The lack of crafting, and horrible game play choices clearly made to force you into buying cosmetics with almost ZERO replay value is just horrible and an insult to paying customers. The game is still not complete this long after its already “launched” its honestly embarrassing for them. The fact they felt they could even release this game and go home for the Holidays is a slap in the face to anyone whose bought it. More than half the promised content is flat out not here at all.
I’m used to Warhammer products absolutely bombing, but this one is a stripped VT2 built to push people into a cosmetics store. Fatshark doesn’t actually care about the Customer and this pile of crap is solid proof of that fact. Money grab through and through.
Honestly, not the devs. FatShark management team has been completely silent except for the ridiculous interview Martin gave where he said they “forgot” to add a bundle to the cash store that would make it fair.
Management completely dropped the ball on this and they need to make a statement of apology and layout the roadmap until this game is feature complete.
You win or lose as a team, and the developers themselves have just as much blame to shoulder as the management, perhaps more so when it comes to the actual amount of work done between 2020 and 2022.
Just because you try to insult him doesn’t make his argument weaker. On the contrary, it makes is more solid, because you go after his character rather than his argument thus conceding any chance to counter his point.
The actual developers are not to blame, they know exactly what’s wrong with the game and probably feel bad about it. They alone carry this parody of a company forward, still, somehow.
They are also about 69 times smarter than the management…
Management that is absolutely clueless, but forces their VISION on both devs and customers.
Management that continues to outright lie to their customers and even go as far as editing their statements right before release, just in case someone wants to call them out on it.
Management that solves every problem by going radio silent for a month and then doing the exact opposite of what people ask for.
Management that probably watched some guru presentation on “player retention” and other buzz words and decided to just mindlessly jam couple of those concepts into a game where those have no place whatsoever and where said concepts don’t even work together at all.
If I want to look cool for some classes I have to do a Pen that requires a group to be there FOR ME alone to get the Pen. Many of the high level pens for gear do not happen organically on many maps. Compare this to VT2 where the challenges were organic and reachable with some play time. 100% accuracy and no ammo? That’s not an organic occurrence, full to 0 an Abom that’s not organic, knock down 6 Ogryn is only doable as far as I know on 2 maps with the high intensity modifier and kiting to a second group.
These late game pieces of gear and the other pieces they help unlock look awesome compared to my prison garb. The challenges are designed to make it more likely for me to just buy a cosmetic set than continue to grind non organic occurrences due to frustration. They even made a few of them harder before launch despite feedback saying they needed to be nerfed.
Compared to VT2 this games systems and design scream cash grab.
I don’t think they should feel bad, I think they should acknowledge the game needs a lot of fine tuning. But it’s at the point where the community knew this was going to happen. FS has always had bad launches. We expected this to happen. What we didn’t expect was the poor design choices (penances/crafting/weapon RNG.) To those design choices insight would be nice.
Have you tried the shotgun? The Pistol? The Plasma Gun? I completed this with the shotgun. a good pistol seems doable (I havnt got one good enough to 1 tap certain elites yet) and the plasma gun is a lot of fun. I would agree that the penances overall are a bit questionable.
If the devs could only work on/test specific maps/difficulties/secondaries/conditions via the same RNG mission selection system we have to, I bet it would be changed real quick. Most of the menu functionality and UX design of the itemisation/crafting/mission selection seem to have been never actually used by anyone who designed them and I think it’s because they can bypass all of that and are insulated from the negative experiences by their dev tools.
