I would argue Havoc isn’t “balanced” to begin with (or rather, throw out the concept when referring to it) - it’s just unfair - and that’s great!
People often conflate fun and challenge, but they’re two very different concepts. Fun is often found in beating a challenge you’re ready for. Getting your face kicked in by challenge you’re not ready for is not fun.
Havoc is there to challenge the best players in the game - it is not ‘to be fair’ or ‘to be fun’ and it is an optional mode. It exists to be beaten, and it’s much more satisfying to beat it knowing how hard it was - not because it was fair, or because it was fun, but because it was hard.
We’ve long seen the comments from players saying they want more of a challenge from Darktide. Players would like to continually challenge themselves and improve their skills. You want to face the horrors of the tide.
If you’re a player who relishes overcoming obstacles and seeks to measure and improve your abilities, then Havoc has been crafted specifically for you.

They ramped the gunners up to 1000% when they should have just cranked up all damage and hp proportionally across the board.
Having aimbot gunners with mini nukes is not even remotely fun when there is NO COVER and no cover system as well as the game doing everything else to encourage you to melee.
If you die from gunners in havoc you just feel cheated.
Hi, I appreciate the compliment. I have played damnation; I’m not terrible at it, but I’ve actually never tried Spidey Sense because I’m just too lazy to install mods haha. I think you might be remembering me playing modded V2 with Zaphio’s accessibility captions mod, though! I was kind of outside the loop of Darktide balance once the CM mantle was passed to Catfish post-launch, so unsure what balance vs mod strategy they use!
It’s almost as if someone took a look at Arena in World of Warcraft and thought “hell yeah! ESPORT!”
Then forgot to look at the data showing that not only did Arena fail to attract less than 0.1% of the playerbase, it ended up costing Blizzard a stupid amount of money and players in just a few years. And this was when WoW still was the 400 kilo gorilla in its prime. Its almost as if Fatshark is populated by a bunch of snowflakes convinced that they can make bad ideas that already failed once (or more) work “because we ARE BETTER!” Who then can’t understand why the new coat of paint failed to fixed fundamanent issues.
About the only promise Havok kept was that it indeed caused havoc - by driving off yet more players in a game needs frequent life support.
