I’m now lvl9 on my Zealot, all I’ve used are different variants of the Axe (I did get a sword, but really don’t like it), an autopistol, lasgun and shotgun.
From the last beta I remember the Thunder Hammer becomes available around lvl 14, but I’m not sure that’s still the case. There is not even an indication as to whether the Eviscerator or Flamer are included at the moment, and knowing that the characters might be wiped at any moment, I don’t really feel like playing right now - I’d love to smash in some heretic skulls, or light them up in promethium, but just constantly using the same weapon, without knowing if and when I get to use the toys I really want to use, that’s just not a good incentive.
The flamer is terrible imo. Shoots a puff of flames that staggers a bit, granted it puts a dot on enemies, no constant stream or ground aoe like a pox flamer. Think of the minions fart gun with a lighter strapped to the front. First impression after using it, I want my 10k back.
Completely agree. I too played as a Zealot and didn’t like axe much. Feels very artificial that you’re forced to stick to a boring weapon with no alternative for multiple hours until you finally get a different weapon. This is in stark contrast to Vermintide where you had the ability to craft your own weapon. Or loot boxes that gave you random weapons that were different.
I hope they up the drop rate of emperor’s gifts or whatever the random post-game loot is called. That, and more diversity in the armory early on would be nice.
Thanks, I took some time in the meatgrinder to play around and found what I was doing wrong. When you aim and hold with the Flamer, you turn the switch on top and start the flame thrower, burns ammo (pun intended) and serious reduced movement. IMHO, it’s feel subpar in its current iteration, my recommendation would be to replace the flamethrower portion with an AOE napalm just like a pox-flamer as an area denial tool especially for hordes, 10-20 ammo and a burning spot for 5-7 seconds a shot seems fair.
