I am talking about an overhaul. Currently the only real reason they pose a threat is because the crusher behind the crusher youre fighting can overhead you through it. Which is hardly good gameplay. I’m actually quite inspired by the Carnifex from SM2 for how i might start looking at the problem.
Better idea. Make the enemies SMARTER. That way when some twit with a combat knife opts to charge at a pack of gunners they gets blindsided by the Crusher hiding around the corner planting their rear into the ground. Then most opponents HP could drop along with the silly “spawn small horde/ special/ etc in the room you checked 30 seconds ago” and players would still have to be careful or end up dying repeatedly due to stupidity.
Not necessarily ‘smarter’, but I remember when the Machine God update dropped and shooters became far more deadly and ‘coordinated’.
It actually carved out a niche for lasgun vets again which was nice.
If the Crusher still has the Crusher moveset, it really doesn’t matter how smart they are. Everything they do is easy to dodge. They’re a low challenge, high punishment enemy.
I’m cool with that tbh, that’s kind of their thing. Humies could stand to be smarter, but keep the dumbos dumb why not.
They could extend the range of the quick spacing attacks Maulers/Crushers do. They have some attacks inherited from their VT2 counterparts, they’re just so easily spaced with this game’s movement system. But if crusher had a punch that reflected his arm being 5ft long he’d be less of a pushover. Same with the sweep that the mauler does, no reason for it to hit almost the range in front of his feet and no further. There’s also a lunging stab Stormvermin did that was honestly far scarier than their chops even if it did less damage. A line of Stormvermin thrusting halberds while right behind you is still a threat.
Basically the only time you see those moves right now is if you fight them with a melee weapon with negative reach like a tactical axe.
T-Rex (arm) axe
How you can deal more damage, then oneshoot from 100% tgh and hp?
