Give us the option to turn off ability noises

Please give us the option to turn off ability noises like rampage’s heart beat and constant whining crying noise. It’s not only annoying but it stops the player being able to actually hear things properly.

Pointless VFX and SFX white noise mentioned 4534543rd time. In totally “unrelated” news, Darktide suffers from a mysterious issue with important audio cues.

But I LOVE hearing my Psyker hit critical Peril 50 times in a row during Scrier’s Gaze instead of the approaching Trapper or Burster

Yup my friend stopped playing all characters with heartbeat sounds, not because it hinders their ability to hear but because it weirds them out.

Thanks I didn’t know it had the ability to turn off those sounds.
I still have to go through and test it repeatedly to see which one turns off what because they just list the ability, but that’s really helpful.

Maybe this is a balancing factor?

On the off chance you’re being serious, no I don’t think it is. I think it’s for people who can’t tell when their buff ends, don’t look at the buff bar, and can’t quickly identify which buff is their stimm or ability. Also for people who, in the case of the stimm crate haven’t played hive scumm or just don’t notice the new buff on their bar. But it could easily be an icon and a countdown timer under the crosshair instead of what we actually got.

Especially with scriers gaze and infiltrate it seems to me to be the balancing method. It is the reason I cannot play these abilities as the overlay is too obnoxious. And if you watch high level gameplay any psyker playing with scriers has it removed by a mod. The game gets significantly harder with that auditive and visual noise. If it was for dummies to track than we would have an icon next to our stamina/dodge/peril counter.

Fine by me to remove the overlay and the noise if in turn the ability gets nerfed.

It’s not ‘dummies’, but also it took years to get a dodge tracker. That doesn’t mean they don’t listen, just it takes a while and people have to say it enough for it to happen with some things.

I guess reducing FOV while sprinting is also a balancing method, running is too OP. Devs should really add giga OP ability for the next class and balance it by turning off your screen.

I know this is supposed to be a joke but sounds quite legit.

Running depends a lot on what weapon you use, for example running with a thammer is very shaky making it significantly harder to use blades of faith. So yeah there is explicit balancing in running.

No. You can turn that off. It’s not a balance mechanic. Also stealth changes your screen like that so you can tell when it ends. Again, it took years to get a dodge tracker and stamina split up into percentage boxes. It’s not a balance thing. It’s just an oversight.

Bro, there’s literally a havoc modifier which tanks your fps to 10-20 on any hardware. There’s no balancing behind it, these devs are just bad at making properly working games.

How?

That got nothing to do with anything

It has everything to do with it. Devs don’t test anything, don’t play their own game and always try to destroy visual fidelity with unnecessary vfx and sfx. Justifying all of it with balancing is absurd.

If that is your take I suggest to touch grass or play something else for a while. I played The Elder Scrolls Online before jumping into Darktide and I assure you you are spoiled.

Buddy has literally admitted that he doesn’t play with an ability because of VFX and then pretends that it’s fine. I suggest actually playing the game instead of posting nonsense here.
