Game Freezes & Main Program Unresponsive

My English is not the best, so please bear with me.

I frequently encounter unresponsive program issues when playing in the official realm. The main problem occurs during missions: after playing for a few minutes, the screen freezes, and the system prompts that the program is ‘not responding’. It usually recovers after waiting for about 1-2 minutes.

However, once it recovers, all established connections with the host or other client players are immediately lost. This undoubtedly severely impacts the gameplay experience for everyone involved.

Notably, this problem does not occur when playing in the modded realm.

I have already tried the following troubleshooting steps:

Completely uninstalled and reinstalled the game.

Disabled VPNs/accelerators.

Changed my network environment.

Tried different versions of the network adapter driver.

Reinstalled the operating system and ensured Windows is fully updated.

None of these methods have resolved the issue.

Additionally, upon checking the Windows Event Viewer, the following error entry was found:
“The certificate received from the remote server was not validated correctly. Error code: 0x80092013. The TLS connection request has failed. The attached data contains the server certificate. SSPI client process: vermintide2_dx12 (PID: 21100).”

Sorry to hear this. It’s a shot in the dark, but trying a ‘Selective Startup’ to disable background applications may help, in case something external is interfering:

  1. Press the Windows key

  2. Type ‘msconfig’ and select ‘System Configuration’

  3. On the ‘General’ tab, select ‘Selective Startup’

  4. Deselect ‘Load startup Items’

  5. Reboot your PC

Otherwise, a clean reisntallation of Vermintide 2 which involves deleting your AppData can rule out any potential game installation or config issue (please note any custom settings e.g. keybinds, graphics etc. will be reset):

Unfortunately, Selective Startup did not resolve the issue.

Considering that the previous reinstallation did not include cleaning the data in “AppData”,

I am now following your steps to perform a thorough reinstallation.

After performing a clean reinstallation that included AppData-Cleanup, the issue has been temporarily resolved. I have played for several hours in the official realm without encountering any program unresponsiveness.

However, to avoid the possibility that this current state is merely “a temporary respite before a relapse” and to determine if the problem is completely solved, a few more days of observation are still needed.

My relationship with this game is filled with a love-hate saga.
I have shared nearly 5,000 hours of joyful time with it, yet feel utterly helpless against these persistent flaws.
