Fun fact about the future of new enemies/factions

Darn it alright ya’ll got me, I have to admit if a lot of those mods get deleted I’ll tune in to see these influencer/tuber people flailing to complete an Auric after being so used to having training wheels.

There was a mention that FS had to do a lot of work for Skeletons in VT2 Necromancer class. I think that they underallocated people to develop a new faction, and they want it to be NPC vs NPC vs Player kinda combat.

That will take ages to fully figure out develop test etc. Especially if most of the company is working on VT3.

There is also the fact that DT does not seem to be FS’s favorite product to work on. It’s just my hunch, but the attitude from FS for Darktide is extremely lack clustered. So many reworks, so many mistakes. It could be GW nagging them beyond reason, could be the Covid struggle development aftermath. There is no clarity on to why that is.

Combat devolved extremely compared to Lunch of DT. Narrative has shifted, and if there were concepts done before, they were most likely scraped and are made from scratch.

Darktide deserves more.. The potential is there, but FS lacks either freedom or vision, or people to make it more than it is.

We can only guess, and that lack of information is what leads to so much frustration.

Are people still harping on that ? When we even know that a new class is set to launch soon ?

Like what are you lot reading that make you think that DT is not being worked on as much as the other.

Look at VT2 at the same age, the process was the same, they have to keep future proofing stuff as much as they can, otherwise it’ll be impossible to fix later.

“Mah favourite youtuber said”. As if Tanner has never made dumb takes. Even in this video he said Saber delivers enemies at the same pace as FS, wich isn’t true at all.

SM2 new enemies - disc riding tzaangors, biovore, chaos spawn with 3 subtypes (so let’s count it as 1,5). Bosses - trygon, vortex beast, winged tyrant or something in November.

So 3,5 enemies and 3 bosses in a bit more than a year. Mind you SM2 enemies are animation heavy cause you need a finisher for every weapon.

DT - toxbomber wich is slightly different from grenadier, and he was datamined since release.
Plasmagunner, wich is shotgunner reimagined. So they don’t need a completely new animation rig, probably just some ai tweaking. For bosses - chaos spawn, wich is not that different from V2 CS and Twins.

Tho you can say that DT bosses are closer to regular enemeies cause just spawn mid run.

So 3 not a completely new enemies, 1 one of wich kind if copypasted boss, and one is completely new.

In almost 3 years.

I play their games since V1, Fatshark is just slow and have no quality control, wasting their time for 2 years on rebalances and fixing reappeared bugs. Happend in all of 3 their games.

If it’s all cause of GW, then why FS keep doing warhammer games? Wouldn’t it be better and easier to jump on other/own IP?

You have another example - Owlcat, the ammount of lore, factions and themes used in Rogue Trade is kinda crazy and both DT and SM2 combined are not even close. Yet we have tones of DLC’s and Dark Heresy in production.

Shielded chaos warrior was added in V2 after DT and has a better and wider moveset than bulwark.

And that’s a fail. Cause we have mtx shop since release, not saying about prices even. 3rd Tide game in a row, with more greedy monetization, with bigger IP. Still no horde enemies with shields, still no caster enemies.

Even technical side - same crappy engine with “your mission was aborted” at the end of H40 run, sound engine can’t handle sound cues.

It’s like they gained 0 expirience and 0 money from previous games.

IDK why but I watched the whole thing. He does not his source is, “trust me bro, I’ve used blender to make porn avatars for VR Chat”.

Again this just proves to me that most people have no idea what goes in to making games.

edit: not just games actually, but most things, like music, animation, movies etc etc

see, that’s why I use mods to remove visual gameplay clutter, even deactivated player outlines for a more “immersive” look.

come to think, wanted to get rid of hitmarkers ages ago, memo to myself.

when watching my stuff on my TV it’s like a juicy :fu: to that bloated console ui that fills half the screen in vanilla.

This goes to all my readers out there: You can think that FS is s responsible for us not getting new enemies, or that it’s GW. You can say that Wrath and Glory and Darktide tabletop is not canon to the game, or that it is. Whether you are on one side of the argument or the other, one thing remains clear:

We aren’t getting a new enemy faction in Darktide anytime soon.

I’m writing this hoping to be wrong, btw, because I love Darktide and I wish for it to get more enemy variety.

Also, Sno you’re an absolute weirdo for saying that. Tanner literally never said anything of that caliber in the video. He just said, “As someone who used to make VR chat avatars…” and you just immediately jumped to a conclusion that they must have been related to porn? What the actual hell is wrong with you?

Fatshark

literally the last 2 and a half years of the game’s live service have been them fishing up mechanics of the game that were unfinished.

Literally the most substantial things we have gotten so far have been overhauls to existing systems.

Compare that to vermintide 2’s first 2 years

Did its story get overhauled into being an actual campaign or did it launch like that

Same with crafting did that get overhauled, no

Or what about gear progression

Or skill progression

literally all their effort have predominantly gone into making the game into what they originally promised with their interview with pc gamer that first revealed the game.

The first update after they finished the last launch feature yet to be overhauled and we get a new enemy.

To be honest I’d like weapon customisation over a new faction, so hopefully there’s someone at Fatshark making that system presentable. It doesn’t even need to be as big as the mod is, something the scale of what AH did with their weapon unlocks would be nice.

I wouldn’t really hope for that. With how the marketing was before the release, weapon customization feels like a system that FatShark very much planned to implement. Something must have gone terribly wrong, either with the game’s direction suddenly changing or GW suddenly changing their mind and forcing FatShark to scrap the system altogether.

But that’s just speculation. It’s just like with thinking why the release was so bad, or why aren’t we getting a new enemy faction yet. As long as FatShark won’t address it themselves, I’ll guess we’ll never know what really went down. I personally choose to think that GW must have meddled in FatShark’s work. What others think is up to them.

No doubt a candy crush RNG retention ‘specialist’ happened.

“Don’t give them freedom to choose, give them freedom to gamble!".

Remember before unlocked and loaded? Shudders

FatShark was on that true dopamine. They gambled away the Weapon Customization for a fully fleshed out Premium Cosmetic Shop :star_struck:. All for Daddy Tencent.
