Fun fact about the future of new enemies/factions

Hello guys, gals and my non-binary pals! Ya mind if I get something off my chest? Since seeing the people’s discussion about new classes and videos talking about enemy design but most importantly, FatSharks roadmap the Tide games, we know that the next update for Darktide will give us a new class and not a new enemy faction.

But that’s pretty weird, isn’t it? Getting new enemies into Darktide seems like the most logical step to take after making a new Arbites class, right? And the answer is

copyImage

Hey, you want to know something cool? The game Wrath and Glory, that recently collaborated with Darktide, literally confirms that Genestealers are present on Tertium. It’s officialy canon. Genestealer’s exist in Darktide, and they are here, on Atoma Prime, in the city of Tertium.

“So why are we not fighting them yet?” I hear you asking. Well… How do I put this? We’re probably going to have to wait years on end, before we actually get to fight them in-game, if ever. Want to know why?

Oh, it’s nothing big. Just that GW is such a bed-staining, spineless, greedy, spoiled toddler company that they will nitpick and annihilate any good concepts that FatShark suggest because “It doesn’t fit their view of how 40k should be”.

Which is just a little metaphor for: “We want to run this franchise into the ground. We want to sell figurines, and we will stick to that. We have a stick so far up our ass that we don’t want anything new. We want to repeat the same old formula we always did and act like the Eclesiearchy itself when we see anything that even slightly deviates from what we consider to be the norm because we’re a bunch of old farts in suits that have a hard time not being detached from the present. We want to do the same thing over and over again and milk the figurine whales until there’s nothing left, and we don’t care about anything else”.

“But we got Beastmen in Vermintide 2 a year after release!” and to that I say: Correct! That’s because GW just couldn’t give a single care about Warhamer Fantasy. In their eyes, it’s dead it’s and boring, and no one cares about it anymore. But 40k? An entirely different situation. That’s their baby orca that they want to keep locked up in their water tank, doing the same old trick for the audience until it withers so much to the point that it doesn’t bring them profit, anymore.

So yeah, if any of you want new enemies, other than Scabs and Dregs, boy do I got bad news for you. By the time, we get a new enemy faction, like Genestealers, we’ll all probably be small piles of dust spread across the galaxy, because if making one enemy can take up to 6 months, if GW is feeling picky, then imagine how long one would have to wait for an entire faction of enemies. And that’s without even acknowledging how would they play into the story of Darktide and progress it forward (fun fact: that’s why we still haven’t got any new arbites comsetics. GW is so awful, they told FatShark to make a new class and haven’t even provided them with cosmetics to sell because “They haven’t made any new Arbites figurines yet”. And FatShark can’t even risk talking about it so they don’t sour their buisness relationship with GW so they have to stay quiet while people on the forums lose their collective goddamn minds about the lack of variety in the Arbites premium shop section).

Case in point: As one wise, random internet-person once said, “GW is 85% responsible for all of Darktide’s problems since launch.” It’s not that FatShark’s incompetent or can’t listen to feedback. It’s just that GW is such a [I am beyond angry towards this company that I can no longer express it in words, so here have this flower instead :rose:] and FatShark simply has a hard time keeping up. GW has put such insanely high levels of BS nitpicking and is almost solely responsible for staining this studio’s reputation in the industry forever. I will never let go of that grudge towards them, but then I guess I would not be the first when it comes to holding grudges towards GW wouldn’t I?

Thank you for coming to my ted rant. Make sure to like :+1:, subscribe and punch that notification bell :bell: for more bangers like this and until next time, my brothers and sisters.

I think you are massively overstating how much is GW’s fault.

Space Marine 2 gets away with Brother Crayon Eater. The Twitch skins exist. The Krieg skins were allowed to go live.

This is not the sign of a company being iron-fisted about their IP.

Fatshark is slow because they’ve always been slow.

Nah, we know Jeanstealers was a possible enemy faction since Owlcat was able to make DLC for it and that GW seems to gives out a list of things avaliable to use. So either Fatshark is just slow on making the faction or FS just didn’t get the license to make Jeans.

You’re giving GW way too much credit. A rainbow Space Marine and some Twitch skins do not make up for all the crap they’ve been putting FatShark and Saber through, with their nitpicky BS, in the slightest.

Okay but…do you have proof? Or are you just yelling at GW because they’re easier to blame than Fatshark?

"Saber Interactive is a worldwide publisher and developer consisting of 13 studios in the Americas and Europe."

2,671 employees btw

More employees - more labor potential for more simultaneous projects being worked on. Apples to oranges comparison my friend.

That was a very good video I might add, very informative on the background processes required for creating new characters and it makes me appreciate Fatshark’s character visual quality more.

Yeah, sucks we live in the timeline where an IP inheritor sucking the life out of something better people made long ago is the default. O’well- Hey GW, how about ‘dem 3D-printed apples? Hope you don’t choke on them. <3

This is just a Youtuber rambling? He’s not presenting any proof, he’s just making assertions? Unless after about five minutes in he actually starts bringing in sources.

The concept, visual design and ‘lore’ I would say is subject to GW’s approval, but the mechanics and implementations are in Fatshark’s court completely.

There won’t be a new faction until they finish the storyline of whatever they’re doing now with Wolfer, and from what I can see, it doesn’t look like it’s going anywhere or ending anytime soon. But we’ll see with the new missions, which I understand will take us to the trenches where it all happened, and we’ll probably see some generic Chaos nonsense. We just have to pray that the next faction isn’t another useless Chaos cult with a different color and slight variations.

Honestly, Chaos as an enemy faction is boring beyond belief. All their cults are the same, all their enemies are nearly identical, and worst of all, the same old storyline of different factions and various Gods is dull and tiresome. It would have been better to use some little-known Xeno race or the Tyranids instead of the most boring and over-exploited Chaos God of all.

If that is still your conclusion after watching the entirety of this video, then all I can say is: that’s certainly an opinion of all opinions.

I would watch that video if only it was made by any other youtuber, until Tanner apologizes for being racist and wishing death towards me i refuse to watch anything of his

Do want to point out that neither FS, nor Abnett and Ward have been credited, so as far as we know, those are just made on the side and aren’t really made with future Darktide updates/content.

That isn’t how it work.

Ip holder and Ip users usually negociate a price to use the Ip, usually the more that you use of the Ip, the more you’re going to have to pay.

So it make sense to pick stricter guide lines than bigger ones as it make the scope, both in price, and in development.

This is also just an opinion piece.

There are reasons that the // between adding Beastmen in VT2 and GSC doesn’t work.

Beastmen, while in general hating the Skaven due to them using the Warpstones (which the BM venerate, their Herdstone often are made out of it, or covered with pieces of it).

But during the End Time, they were for the most part wrangled by the Chaos Warrior into cheap fighting forces, and thus were more forced into leaving the the Skaven do their stuff.

Genestealers don’t really have any means to be allied up with the Scab/Dregs

GW stop certain things from happening, but most problems that were there on launch were due to FS, as those same problems were already present in the 2 Vermintide games (which you’ve said GW didn’t care about), or even to their previous game still (where GW had no impact).

I have no idea, what kind of experience you have with Tanner Lindberg and you have my condolences if it is true. However whether it did happen or not, it doesn’t take away from what he said in this video.

So he DID present actual sources and not just continue rambling over modded Darktide gameplay? Because I stopped watching after five minutes of baseless rambling.
