I enjoy Expeditions, I think they still need to incorporate some kind of system that gives you a bolster to talent(s) akin to how Mortis Trials Indulgences work
In this case, it doesn’t have to be a 1:1 of the Indulgences of Mortis Trials, just at least once some way that either Melee or Ranged bolstering abilities or another temporary “armor” ability is given that feels similar to Chaos Wastes or Cataclysm yet still is unique to Darktide
I saw somewhere someone suggested we could spend ordos to boost our weapons past 80%. It would be so simple to implement.
I also really like the idea of being able to temporarily buy weapons from other classes, sort of how Melk has his shop, where you might find a weapon with awesome synergy from another class.
Add chem or fire or electric damage to weapons. Modifiers that increase Rending or impact, etc.
Another idea for a location could be a battle servitor that we get running. Harder to implement, but would be incredible.
Also, looking at the assets they developed for the Sanctuaries, they definitely should make a map that is about half underground. It’s a missed opportunity.
I would play it if I could QP in the same pool as Mortis Trials and regular missions.
The idea is interesting, but the sunken cost is just a resource wasted without a reward. The buffs or weapon selections would have to be game breaking and then that screams again “whats the point?”
But then we might see the wrinkle on their forehead, or third arm.
I would absolutely love a new way to escape! Great idea.
Players sometimes do not know that enemies should be avoided, they just kill and keep killing only stopping if they run out of ammo. This mode is counter to how 'tides operates. I would suggest the following to improve.
- Remove timer in mission to fail at 0:00 and instead it’s a countdown to a difficulty increase
The mission starts at Malice (or lowest difficulty) and each 0:00 spawns a horde, a taunt from the enemy over vox (or warning from Hadron) and bumps the difficulty to the next tier.
Transitioning to a new zone could bump the diff up as well, or simply just adjust the timer. I think pausing the clock while in the shop would be fine as well.
This helps solve the confusion on why killing stuff seems to make it harder and wont end the run at 0:00.
- Killing enemies slows this new timer; Killing enemies to add time.
A stem to the tide, it also give players a reason to purge and clear paths.
Killing Patrols/bosses/specials can add time to this countdown.
This helps fix the current double negative of killing enemies.
Also creating new objectives to add time to the countdown or even reduce the difficulty by one.
Create a new Unique Objective (once per game only accessible after z2) on the map for players to intentionally spawn a boss. Give the boss fights flair for this, think the twins fight with mechanics. They already have the electric zones with switches. Have fights require some IQ (not a whole lot, you know we like our left clicks) but just enough to be worried if you decide to fight it solo.
My only other suggestion to the mode is allow players to pool together or trade currency. It’s kind of a “gimme that” or selfish mentality with some pickups. A bit elementary, FS you can do better! Maybe I want to buy ammo for the whole team. So, if anything, create new or allow for someone to purchase something for the whole team. For example, when you refill ammo you can have a choice to spend 10 on yourself or 30 to replenish the whole team.
I think having your weapons slightly buffed while spending out resources most players have in the millions or hundreds of thousands will make those resources feel valuable again.
They don’t have to be game breaking, just “tune-ups.” I think I’d do 10% on a weapon per sanctuary. All weapons are currently capped at 80%, so you wouldn’t be able to boost both weapons to 100% unless you had a 5 zone expedition.
It would be an easy way to slot a new NPC into the roster as well.
I think that would be a fantastic variant. As is, the modifiers are not interesting enough. That would be a cool way to play.
I definitely like this as well. Very cool mode.
Absolutely. We need more of this.
You could even have a little table you throw the currency on when you have more than you need or even sell back upgrades.
Fantastic ideas. I hope Fatshark will steal every idea in this thread.
Another idea with a game mode variant (inspired by your kills idea) would be a “hunt” mode, where each level has a boss or series of bosses and you have to try to find and kill them before time runs out.
The player count does hurt the modes being separate Queues. Also, the game mode punishes you for coming in halfway with bot health, ammo, and blitzes being depleted.
I look at it as extra challenge, but it’s obnoxious.
Yea, like a tip jar, leave it on the table for teammates and anything else once players leave the shop is tipped to swagger.
Yeah I think late joins need to be improved. Ideally you would see what map, modifiers, and game mode quick play is going to throw you into and you can change your load out or character even for it. Maybe decline if you really don’t like it. But there should be toggles for what game modes you want to queue into just like they have for campaign missions as a toggle.
Love it!!! XD
I feel like that would be ideal for every iteration of quickplay..
Another concept, though unlikely, would be to buy temporary talent points. One per scavenging zone. It would really open up new class builds.
I doubt it would be done because of how talent points are currently saved per character, but it would be neat.
I’ve added a summary of some of the best ideas above.
Another idea I had was gamemode/area of interest where, on the last level, the Heretics bring a skyfire defense online and you have to take it out to call in your evac.
Not sure about this – skins you barely seem as they are, now only expedition exclusive feels weird.
Good idea.
Bots need to be removed completely and replaced with servo skulls.
Interesting idea.
Good idea. all expedition has a single difficulty and the more you do, the harder it becomes.
the rest of your ideas are also great. hope they take note.
I definitely can’t take credit for them all. Some great ideas in the comments, I just wanted to make sure they got read at the beginning of the post.
my comment stands still like cadia
dead game mode expeditions, unfun that is not even worth unlocking its penances
that means literally nothing except matchmaking is terrible and server browser should be in game. here’s a screenshot I posted 3 Saturdays ago at mid-day. not even a single Havoc lobby in my region to join. should it be removed? according to some garbage posters only havoc matters, but its this dead all the time? or do I need to do more legwork outside the game just to be worthy? honestly that garbage is far more in need of revamps. you’re in a glass card house attacking other modes
