I’m starting to wonder if it’s some sort of extraction mode. Extraction shooters seem to be the flavour of the moment and the term “expeditions" would suit such a mode very well ![]()
I hope not…

Hang on, now what’s wrong with an Extraction Shooter? Is it that it just won’t fit into Darktide?
two words : gear fear
given the army of havoc sissies that reject when not rocking the carry-me meta, guess what body fluids they’ll soil the floor with upon actually losing stuff thats been picked up or brought into the match.
the essence of what an extraction shooter is
i dont think ive ever played any extraction shooter and honestly had ‘fun’,
just not my kinda game
‘The Forever Winter’ is the only extraction game that I like, but it’s completely PVE (so no dealing with people) and pretty janky atm.
Right now I’m just waiting for them to finish the game and hopefully fix the mobility, which is bad, sorry not sorry.
wasnt there a software issue with the game basically having a network backdoor on your computer?
sounded fishy at the time and no game’s worth my pc’s security
Exactly why MicroShit took control of your PC and why you have to remove a lot of things…
And exactly why they put barrier after barrier to prevent you from controlling your PC.
I have just reinstalled my PC just to remove the MicroShit account on WinCrap, and I could not believe how many things they added in one year just to force you into their ecosystem (so ads and spying on you).
If there was, I missed it.
The game can be played offline (the majority of players play offline) or online/coop.
I haven’t played it in over a year because it became too repetitive, so I haven’t tested the new character ‘Gunhead’, sewers, the new water system, and so on.
I’d rather wait till the game is finished since I don’t neef to see everything the moment it comes out, plus it still runs so poorly and is janky, but the art and other aspects like the lore are fantastic, and I’ll play it when it reaches the 1.0 release stage.
Darktide was horrible at launch, but not as clunky and janky as The Forever Winter ![]()
well, never had one since I installed my win11 when there were workarounds to the process.
offline account since forever ![]()
Never play with the Microshit store… this is how I messed up my first install.
Now, Microshit messed up the second with 25H2. Removed all updates, and still a lot of things are broken (Start11 doesn’t work, my USB key doesn’t auto-mount now, etc.).
Have to reinstall AGAIN. But this time, I have decided to revert to WinCrap 23H2. Yes, a 2-year-old version.
And I will deactivate WinCrap updates once I log in and before connecting to the internet.
Cannot believe I have to return to something I was doing under… Windows 98.
At that time, I had no Windows licence… but here I have paid for WinCrap 11 only to get these annoyances.
Just going to ask my crystal ball for some lotto numbers ![]()
I was about to comment how you should be put on the Black Ship for revealing your future-telling powers, Freak!
Also, I feel sorry for all the saps out there who explicitly said they don’t want it to be an Extraction Shooter, once they read that blog post.
Based on what we know so far, is this really an extraction shooter?
The map is non-linear, there’s some time constraint, and you can leave a mission with some progress before the time is up. But there’s no PvP and it doesn’t sound like you gear up in-mission, both of which seem pretty important to qualify as an extraction shooter, eh?
It looks like path of exile mapping to me, depending on what this picture actually signifies. You pick a node, it has some tileset with setpieces or whatever, you run it, you do the next one.
It could also be a slay-the-spire like run, but I find that a little unlikely as that only makes sense because you pick paths based on per-run rewards and this game nor gamemode seems to have any system like that in place. Plus I’m not sure how that would work with random matchmaking. Each of these little nodes is puggable the way I understand it, it’s not a coherent run.
In fact, even if it was a PoE-like map system, I don’t really get how random matchmaking plays into this. Does it just mean there’s like 5 mission types and if you pick one, the game randomly matches you with 3 people who also picked that one? That’s the only implementation of it that makes sense to me
Where does this screenshot come from? Did I miss a big reveal video on the Expeditions?
Edit:
Forget it, just have seen the news article in Steam..
Yea we don’t have enough info yet. Not even clear if that graphic is UI or a video.
