I for one have no problems with the party finder as I just join the first squad in the range or when I host am not very picky. Havoc is my go-to because of the regular captain and monstrosity spawn. I somehow really like to fight against all enemies of the roster.
Also as an old borderlands junky I came to despise damage gate mechanics like health gate or toughness gate as that can destroy build crafting. And the small change of removing toughness gating makes havoc feels more natural than the main missions.
These two together with the reduced toughness values make it the better balanced game mode in my eyes. Note I am talking about havoc ranks 26 to 33
expedition is one of those game modes that can definitely be played solo and such option should be available. It would be a ton of fun.
very nice idea. Perhaps this could be Havok 40, the ultimate challenge. Expedition Havok, with all the crazy modifiers on top of the expedition. Super exciting.
havoc being the source of the the game being in worst balance state since closed beta makes this a horrible idea.
Its bad enough as is without adding even more of it.
Fair’s fair that the damage is already done… Though the notion that “things cant get any worse then this can they?” is a dangerous one.
h40 expedition sounds funny but certainly would involve a lot of work because expeditions spawns and enemy ai are broken as is and there’s no actual hard win requirement. i think it might be a little unsatisfying to have a h40 mission with no finale and mid event, also, and i think expedition maps generally offer too much space to be challenging and just enable infinite kiting
I can’t even fathom the amount of cries for buffing us and nerfing enemies the moment players step 1 pixel into the line of sight of a trash gunner with emperor’s fading light. Ranged is easily the biggest threat in expeditions. EFL there would actually break people.
I’ve been on both sides of this and it’s annoying from both sides.
When I started doing Expeditions, I would sometimes get teammates who would just run off on their own and ignore the team - and often they would die or just leave before the end of the match. I thought they were self-centered horrible teammates.
Then when I started trying to get the 100k salvage penance, I found that the only way I way I would ever complete that penance within this lifetime was if I also sprinted off on my own and collected as much salvage as possible. So I began to appreciate having teammates who could run off on their own - we could all split up and accomplish the objectives that were individually important to each of us.
…But then I started running in to teammates who would see that I was apart from the team - and they would get annoyed and insult me for not sticking with the team. The worst case was a pair of people who extracted early, purely out of spite and with no warning - and when I asked why they hit the button so early they said I was ‘wasting their time’ by collecting salvage (and so, to spite me, they felt they would then waste my time by making sure I couldn’t deposit the salvage in the sanctuary.) That was also quite annoying.
So whether you’re sticking with the team or running off on your own, it’s annoying either way. If you already have all the tech remnants collected, and you only need salvage, it eventually starts to feel like a waste of your time to stick with random teammates just to help random people collect their tech remnants while ignoring your own penance goals.
I think you’re highlighting a specific issue that demonstrates that, again, Fatshark has not learned from previous similar problems. This reminds me of the times in 2023-2024 where crafting materials were at a premium, especially Plasteel. It was pretty common for some people to go loot-goblin on the team, go off on their own, and comb the whole map for all crafting mat spawn points.
It does not help that Tech remnants are currently useless appart from the penances for some cosmetics ; some people will care, others will not.
So yeah, the fact that for some people Expeditions are a mandatory collectathon, that’s yet another thing that detracts from the main attraction of Tide games which should be fighting as a group.
