Bored and curious soldiers will always find the time required to break their equipment, I assure you. Active duty is mostly spent just waiting around for orders, and that inevitably leads to incidents like this…

Backpack Hotshot could have that tbh, iirc they’re able to generate energy in some stories (ignoring all other possible problems)

At this point, I’m convinced it’d just be better for Fatshark to do a Lasgun with a Drum-shaped Power Pack to fill the role of a “Las LMG”, in order to avoid all of the iffiness that’d come with trying to balance Hot-shot Las Weapons with our existing kit.

Technically Recon lasguns already fill that niche, but having a non-standard variant with diffferent parameters would be nice (less spammy, more power; kind of like braced autogun but laser).

Yeah, exactly. I was thinking it’d be a Braced Las Weapon that fires slower but is “punchier” and has a significantly larger Magazine Capacity compared to a Recon Lasgun. It should also be AMAZING at Suppression and sustained fire compared to other Las Weapons, keeping Enemies down for prolonged periods of time so that your Teammates can move up. If an Enemy tries to be a hero? You simply Swiss cheese their ass with LASER TECH.

Obviously, I’d still want a Braced Las Weapon in Darktide to fire slower, feel punchier and be able to fire for longer than that specifically, but it’s a nice template to help conceptualise.
