A player’s worst nightmare. A really cool comsetic for a class they love, only to see that it’s unavailable in a couple days’ time because… well, I guess no reason in particular. Players absolutely hate it, Fatshark loves it because it gets players to spend more money to get limited time cosmetics.
I have an idea that will both appease players and even possibily FatShark.
Every single buyable cosmetic item for a character becomes viewable. Items that are “in stock” or in the rotation have their base cost (be it 500 aquilas for a skin, 900 for a headgear, 1400 for a blouse, etc). That much won’t change.
But items that are “out of stock” or outside of rotation have a 25% increase of their cost. As an example: Let’s take the Ogryn bundle Ezekiel that normally costs 2900 Aquilas to buy.
If a player wanted to buy the Ezekiel bundle during it’s rotation, its’ price of 2900 Aquilas would be the same. However, if a player wanted to buy the Ezekiel bundle outside of it’s rotation, it would cost 3625 Aquilas, but would still be able to be bought.
FatShark’s happy because they get more money. The players are happy because cosmetics that they might have missed or wanted to get are available.
Of course, asking for prices to be the same for out of rotation cosmetics would diminish the looming threat of FOMO and desensitize players from panic buying cool cosmetics. If a slightly higher price is the price I must pay for a cosmetic that was unavailable to me before I started player, it’s one I’d be okay with paying.
Maybe the price increase for out of rotation cosmetics could be chalked up to: “Oi mate, I’ve been risking life and limb out here just for the ones you got b’fore ya. It’ll cost extra for the ones you were too slow to pick up.”
Orrrrrrrr… how about the ones that are currently in “rotation” get a 25% discount and the ones that are out of rotation are listed at normal price. The nice thing about digital cosmetics is FS doesn’t need to make a new copy for every player from scratch, talk about a $$$ printer.
We’ve tried offering reasonable versions of the store, Fatshark never says anything or DOES anything about said store. It has persisted and slowly gotten worse since launch.
Store is most likely to be on a fixed auto rotation so FS don’t need to look at it for a very long time, or if ever, unless they add a new class like they did.
It is on purpose. To make the desired item time limited or add unknown element to it’s return to encourage impulse there and then acquisition.
Back before about the whole Aquilas purchase leaving some leftover after buying a cosmetic set to encourage top up. Now you can buy exact amount of aquilas to equal one set.
The threads show people are very excited about skins. To the point no real motivation to reduce cost if selling well.
Now resorting to slight variations of existing skins, running out of ideas.
