Is the existing “Darktide Modding Policy” post even being used to issue warnings/bans to people? Does an abominable intelligence manage the in game report system?
I understand that macro use is allowed and not all can be considered “mods” even though mods can do the exact same things. Ideally reports of “Communication Abuse” as the in game option puts it would have the whole thing sorted out mods/macros or not. This would not fall under the “Cheating” option. Also in game has a character limit to describe the report.
I personally add blatant macro usage to increase speed/dps to my blocklist. People should learn to do it manually or not at all. Nobody cares or even would notice if you bound a key to easily slide forward with one key press instead of three but it never seems to start or stop with just that. I will be impressed when someone uses macros to play using the DK bongo controllers, a toaster, a banana ect. not to top stats.
Also surprised by the number of people still spamming voice lines like “Vacuum Capsule” or racial slurs in the Morning Star. I must say easy report and will report every time.
The problem is that some mods are labeled as being for disabled players—they might have hearing issues or physical limitations that prevent them from playing like able-bodied players. But for able-bodied players, these mods are essentially cheating. We can’t ban these mods because there genuinely might be disabled players relying on them—for instance, someone with hearing loss might need a sound-visualization radar to help them play.
Here’s a thought, maybe someone could actually make an accessibility mod for the hearing impaired rather than an ESP mod co-opting a disability and masquerading as accessibility. You know something that’s not a highly selective customizable pinpoint-accurate radar, something that’s actually a reasonable visual representation of enemy sounds.
I’m sure the handful of players with actual hearing issues severe enough to warrant it could benefit from such a thing.
