The locking of high tier weapons behind a halo infinite style challenge system is a poor idea. That progression is infuriating when you just want to play the game but now need to grind block damage. A veteran that needs to grind melee kills is simply a detriment to the team.
My solutions:
Add the currency as a pickup in the map. It encourages exploration while not forcing players to approach combat with a grinding mindset.
Get rid of the contract currency and just make Master Crafted weapons very expensive (20-40k.) Contracts would be a way to just make more money (2-10k per contract based on difficulty)
i assume they got the idea from V2 where players didnt like the rewards for weekly challanges
and also complained that the random drop-chance from the boxes doesnt allow them to go for a specific item, i suspect its only there as way to safe up coins for when the item you didnt had luck finding randomly pops up for grab
i doubt that they will lock these items of only to be grabbed there
that being said i agree that the mission need adjustment depending on class,
sharpshooter get headshot/ranged and special kill
ogryn would get melee kills and shoving enemies on the ground using your ult to stagger bosses and elites
To be fair, the contracts are super easy to do and even can replaced. I went for 1500 and 3200 blocked damage, 200 and 300 Pasteel and 10 missions completed. All done with Veteran. The blocked damage was farmed on difficulty 2 in just two games, the Pasteel took the longest and is one of the reasons why i think that crafting ressources taken up ingame should be shared.
But since its weekly and can be done easily in two days, most likely some even in one day, i dont think its that bad.
Frankly, i thought about making a thread telling people that they should safe their contract currency after release until they have a max. level character and reached max. powerlevel, because its wasted during progression and i am pretty sure that the contracts will be the best option to get red weapons, if they are in the game.
well that depends on the rarity of ehh contract coins(?) it seems like you can just reroll until each mission grants 200+ coins thats roughly 1k coins
i donât know if there is a higher tier than gold/yellow equip thats priced around 800-900
thats one piece of equip per week you can freely choose
for it to be the only way to obtain these, is very unlikely.
if there is a higher tier its maybe priced at 1500 ?
that would mean you get to choose 0.75 items per week
i dunno if im happy with that, in V2 it was random sure, and if this features only purpose is to mitigate the randomness of drops i guess its fine
but i really dislike time windowed limitations in V2 i always could just play more to get what i want eventually
Yeah, i mentioned in the thread i opened in the progression zone that i would like to see a indefinite way to grind highest tier weapons and since we do get loot from leveling up, i strongly assume that those paragon levels we had in V2 will still be in Darktide and will be the grind. Its certainly dissapointing though.
There has to be a higher tier than orange for sure, its a staple in the Tide series that red items are the last tier and i doubt they will change it. So its rather safe to assume that red items will be a thing and i have seen that the contractor weapons are based on your characters power when the goodies were swapped. I guess it will just be a safe way to get red items, because we know how much complaints there were about red item farming in Vermintide. I assume that crafting them will also be part of the game eventually.
Still, i am not a fan of Darktides âlootâ system and it does feel like the contracts will be the usual way to go to get red weapons.
Ps: Dont forget about the free 1000 coins you get for finishing all contracts. They should lead to enough to get at least one red item for sure each week. Still sounds bad considering that i can get mulitple red items a day in Vermintide 2, but we are speculating anyway.
I personally feel like one red item should take at least 3-4 weeks to getâŚits the only way to keep players interested and it shouldnât be hand outs like you do weekly and you get 1.
I just dislike the ideas of hand outs. It keeps me interested plus what other games are there out there right now? You want people interested and imo this keeps me interest on playing longer. Most people I know just quits after they got the best gears and said there is nothing left to do because there is nothing left to get but of course they are not going to do thatâŚthey need to sell the game so they are going to hand out free loots with min effort.
I believe getting one safe red weapon each week with the possibility to farm a few more that week should give you more than enough to do, considering how many weapon and weapon varieties will be in the game. I certainly assume that it will take a considerable amount of time to even just get the first two red weapons you want for your build.
Expectation of getting a âredâ with some certainty is a lot better than what was released in VT2. The red grind was real and for some of my friends who were semi-casual players, it took a few months. Reading some of these posts about grinding has made me rethink my position in purchasing the game since I donât have the freedom and time pre-Covid.
I mean, every game that features progression will take your time and if you want to max out your character, want to play on the higher difficulties and get the prestige weapons then you should expect a considerable amount of time investment to grind to that point.
Eventually its about how much time you expect to invest to reach the point of progression you desire. Everything i listed isnt needed per se and you can easily take your sweet time with the game. It will still be here for at least the next 5 years.
