Can we not do this non sense?

Not even a microsecond in game, not even a chance to play even a moment. not even in a game where everyones already dead. I join, to play a round or two. and I get an INSTANT “YOU HAVE FAILED THE EMPEROR”. Like this has to be the BIGGEST screw you in this game.

Game Dev is by no means easy, but this dev team needs to get their junk together. because even before I joined this Lost Mission, I felt a waning motivation to continue playing this game. Looking for it again, I que’d up for quickplay, for just a quick round or two, just to get a massive sign telling me to stop playing this game because the dev team could give fewer shits about whether this game is functional or not.

”Quality of life” my ass.

They also need to remove corruption damage when you join through quickplay. I once had a game where I joined, loaded in with no ammo in the clip, no nades and 50% of HP being purple, and got oneshot by something in the middle of pox gas horde.

It especially pisses me off when I join in progress games with half HP missing but every other teammate is at full HP. Great way to start off the mission.

This sucks for sure but wipes can happen prretty fast, not sure if it can be completely prevented.

What might help is, if a player is joining then the bot they replace is invincible. And then they join in a decent state with a grace period of invulnerability and a full clip. NOT for players re-joining, just fresh joins.

had to quit 3 times yesterday from getting put into the same zeta expedition that was halfway through.

one would think programming 101 would have a tool for not putting the player back in the game TWICE he manually opted out of.

It’s floor sandwiches all around I’m afraid… not joining fresh matches makes midway leavers less likely to be filled. A checkbox like you said would be slightly better but still a bandage.

Rather than finesse the algorithm into a slightly less stupid algorithm I’d prefer to just have a lobby browser and maximise player agency.

Iunno what even the rationale is for lumbering an incoming quickplay player with the consequences of the bot they’re replacing’s incompetence. If a player is loading in mid-match (for the first time) they should have a couple seconds longer grace invulnerability period, and start with fresh loadout.

In fairness, this is about the most stressful and rage-inducing way to play Darktide.

Solo quickplay Darktide is miserable, where you’re subjected to the full randomness of the playerbase and game. If Darktide is a Warhammer E-Disneyland, where people come to ride the Archivum Sycorax and Enclavum Baross rides while cosplaying their favorite Guard regiments, solo quickplay is like going to Disneyland by yourself and sitting in line with strangers for every ride. It’s so unfun I don’t play unless I can find at least one other person to play with from one of my gaming groups.

The game is so much better if you have someone to play with, even if you just have one other friend in the party, the whole vibe changes. Find a pal, pick a mission y’all find fun, and it’s a totally different experience than logging in by yourself and slapping quickplay.

There is a no zero chance, that Quickplay will connect you to a game, where someone just rage quit, because things were going really badly. By the time you load in, everyone else is already dead. Yes, it is annoying, and no, there is no way this can be “fixed”.

another day of fatshark enforced lobbies, after getting put back into the same half eaten game 3 times again, I had to resort putting one of the players temporarily on the block list.

Yeah, my favorite is loading into a match with 90% of your health gone, last wound, completely surrounded, no nades, and your gun unloaded.

Last night I decided to give the last map on expeditions another go after some days away due to the pure visceral rage it induces…fool me thrice etc etc.

Loaded into an existing game with the only type of player I ever seem to get lumped with in auric expeditions - useless headless chickens who run off and die…so after entering the second zone everyone died and then so did I.

Then, no matter what I tried in the lobby, every single mission that I tried to join/create kept forcing me into one with a headless chicken from the previous mission. So I quit the game and went to bed.

There should be an option to start a fresh mission if you want.

And why do so many people, whom keep dying so easily, keep attempting auric expeditions so relentlessly? Like, if you’re dying non stop then just goo to a lower difficulty, but they refuse to? So weird.

It’s annoying but it’s unavoidable.

There will always be a gap between when you start loading into a game and you actually load in. When you start to connect, the game isn’t lost, but by the time you load in it’s lost.

There’s no way to avoid OP’s problem unless you specifically program the matchmaking engine to auto-doom all teams actively in-combat that add players into teams. The majority of games you enter that are underway, have openings because someone DC’ed or ragequit, which means the team is already losing and likely to die shortly. I don’t want a game that basically bans joining games in progress, which means any game with a leaving player is an auto-loss.

Idk man I think they can at the very least remove the ability to join after the losing screenshows up because that’s exactly what I got :frowning:

Sometime between when you started joining, and finally connected the game was lost.

It’s annoying but there’s really nothing that can be done about it.
