Buffing Veteran Smoke Grenade

Just today i used Krak to clear a dog from a guy because it was faster than reloading and repositioning to get a clear shot, which is far beyond the Smoke highest ambitions!

My point is that the situation you describe doesn’t exist in the current Auric/ML difficulty and kinda never did. You are also a bit too cavalier about the terms Ambush and Dozen to say the least!

The chief prerequisite for running into a dozen Crushers nowadays begins with sleeping and dreaming about it and even thou the game got seriously easy in the recent times, as of now sleeping and playing DT are still two different separate things!

Lastly, both Fraks and Kraks are fairly independent of the team, unlike Smoke which requires your team to play along with it and if they decide to simply ignore it and Meep Meep roadrunner thru it and beyond toward brighter tomorrows there is nothing you can do about it and smoke wasted!

If you have a good aim I’m pretty sure you can actually knockback a dog using a smoke grenade. Most smaller enemies can be pushed over if you hit them around the head or shoulders with it.

Even so I wouldn’t be wasting kraks on a pox hound. Unless you the player pinned is above you on a ledge and you can’t get a line of sight, it’s better to just run over and bash it or just wait for your reload.

Many players walk or drop into a room with a group of crushers, especially when they are rushing to rescue someone. Happens all the time and the players who fall for it typically end up rage quitting which always gives me a few laughs.

Ambush means you’ve walked into a room full of enemies. Dozen usually means of around 12, but people often use it loosely for 7-16.

It’s not uncommon to see players run into a room only to find a group of seven or more snipers, a pack of six gunners, and two reapers to be aimed on them all at once.

Absolutely. One of the reasons I stopped playing. FatShark seem more interested in making the game easier to play to make it accessible for a wider audience so they have more people to sell their cosmetics and dlc to, all while dismissing the actual fanbase who enjoyed Darktide for the challenges it provided.

Seems like you don’t play much with smoke grenades honestly as most of the things you claim about them are simply not true. For example, you do not need your team mates to use smoke grenades.

You can use smoke grenades with executioners stance by yourself to clear a room full of specials. You can also throw a smoke down and revive or rescue someone by yourself. They’re useful for pushing forward by yourself as well.

Aside from protecting a downed player while another team member revives them, I can’t think of any other way you’d specifically rely on a team mate to make your smokes useful?

More like claiming there are two usecases you described comes like a sneak peek from a Havoc’s community echo-chamber  - this is the only place where the 1st described scenario will ever happen consistently enough as an actually separate tactical situation (and not a typical generic “there is a downed player and some mobs around it, doesn’t really matter of what type” case) to justify taking a Blitz pretty useless in every other situations. And thus that is only of any importance to absolute minority of DT players immediately. And Blitz which usage isn’t justifiable by 90% of the playerbase, in the main mode of play - is dysfunctional by definition, literally.

In base game, killing enemies fast is way more efficient solution than employing elaborate methods of not killing them but still doing something - and more importantly, it’s actually possible, for properly equipped player, to kill everything (or just what interferes with your goal most) quick, there. Sure, if you want to cosplay a ninja (guilty of such urges too) you can - but don’t start making excuses about it being (actually!) efficient - it’s not.

In both described scenarios, would I have VoC (which almost without question is used with the subnode that resses downed allies these days) instead of creating a cloud of fart, I would just run head-on into the crowd of whatever there was while throwing a grenade into it, then would cast a VoC ressing the downed player, then we would kill the rest quickly together. You literally almost never will have a situation of “multiple snipers / gunners / trappers vs you alone” even in Auric Maelstroms - and thus choosing suboptimal tool just in case once per few matches you’ll actually do is a questionable decision. To a point it becomes a self-fulfilling prophesy (you causing those situations due to choosing suboptimal toolset that helps your team less than alternatives).

Now again, I’m not saying you need to play meta (I don’t play meta myself), just that you should stop trying to confuse reality with wishful thinking. Applies to efficiency questions, and also to implied subtext of Havoc being somehow relevant and a good benchmark for efficiency of something for absolute majority of DT players

Snipers ignore smoke. This guy is full of :poop:, it was obvious when he claimed that smokes are “ruined” because they no longer blind teammates.

Look, if your argument is that Fatshark can’t include a feature because “that’s not how it works in real life,” then you’re going to have a lot of problems with the game. This isn’t a mil sim.

Fire grenades will still burn you even if it’s your friend who puts them down. Drugs don’t magically overdose the enemy while leaving you fine. You can’t throw explosive grenades next to your friends without exchanging them for minced meat. Fire from a flame thrower doesn’t push people backwards. Transonic blades struggle to do more than cut turkey at Thanksgiving.

I could go on and on.

Long story short, that argument is disingenuous. Dunnothisguy even included some real world effects that could be used to justify it, but that isn’t the point. His suggestions should be evaluated on a gameplay level.

take the L and move on
