Brittleness needs a visual effect

Since the new shotgun is getting a brittleness-inflicting special shot, it got me thinking…

It is a great support/teamplay tool, yet there is no way of telling if the target has any brittleness, unless you literally tell in the voice chat. This is also true for Ogryn/Shattering Impact/etc.

My suggestion is to add a visual effect, it could look something like a dark-grey smoke with flakes of rust flying off an enemy, the morestacks it has, the more intense the effect will be.

I think the current enemy “wound” system could be repurposed as a an in-game brittle indicator as it’s a bit weird and IDK if anyone really notices, “wound” as in the gaping holes or chuncks of helmets missing like from a charged thunderhammer head bonk or other thresholds. The plasma holes have the blue outline, this could be colored differently.

IDK, it was a passing mod idea some time back but FS should be the one to make this call and make it for all platforms to see.

While this is cool, I feel like it will be very hard to tell. Ain’t nobody got time to look for holes in the armor of a Crusher №342 that just jumped at you. I think the effect should be easily visible, like Bleed or Fire.

That’s part of the issue I had with it too, but I wonder if that’s the design team’s intention to leaving it out in the first place and the other part being they didn’t want you to know (honestly, who the hel knows).
I’d still very much like a brittle indicator even if it’s a bit subtle and you need to pay attention to see it.

The whole VFX and visible indicator of certain buffs and debuffs could use a bit of a cleanup, especially when you add outlines into the mix.

I think it’s just eye candy, like increasing limit for the ragdolls/gore/etc. IIRC if you play on lower settings the enemy wounlds are very limited, for example on release I used to play on low/med settings and some enemies like Mutants and Ogryns didn’t have any gore, except for chopping their heads off.

Yeah, I was thinking about that Havoc rage modifier VFX (brown smoke), but another color and some extra effect for brittleness

Lord, please, not more particle effects. I’m suffering enough as it is.

You know how the Dark Souls games give your armor a cracked, almost tinfoily look when it’s broken? Do that!

I’ve been playing Havoc extensively since the Arbitrator release I gotta say that I agree. The green/orange/red/purple men aura from Havoc modifiers is super annoying.

The gas has a great effect where their eyes just glow green, why not repurpose it with slight alterations? Brittleness still needs to be easily visible tho.
