After doing almost all penances and leveling all weapons, I am confused how the Arc Rifle made it in the game in it’s current state. If you try this in Auric hi-shock troop, there is almost nothing besides bosses that you can’t just delete with it. This is worse than any Smite-Scriers Gaze or flame staff Psyker that already make me dodge the lobby.
The gun is good against specials, horde and Armour, both in point blank- and very long range without barely any weakness. Crusher waves are a complete joke, as you just keep shooting them until everything around them is dead. What I don’t understand is, why isn’t it at least balanced in low ammo efficiency or at least swap speed? You swap the gun faster than a Hellbore while it should be at least as slow as the Bolter or even slower imo. The ammo efficiency is also extremely good, as you can easily run the whole mission with it without taking too much ammo from the ground. The slow reload can easily be avoided by the self loading talent.
I call it now that in a couple of weeks, when people return to their most comfortable loadouts, we will see a rise in Arc Rifle users that just ruin the game for everyone that wants to use melee builds and wants to play an actual hard game. This is just power creep in a nutshell.
In the interview, they said they hoped to create an electric shock machine gun, but as a result, they gave this machine gun basic damage comparable to that of a bolt gun.
I haven’t tried to build for the Arc Rifle specifically, the very long reload kinda turned me off. But I imagine that with Gunsmith, that particular downside is sufficiently mitigated ?
I was grinding the penance where you need to chain arc between 5000 enemies which took a long time. I constantly spammed the weapon at anything that moves and never really had any ammo trouble. I was running some of the ammo talents and I took some ammo from the ground, however it was not much compared to what other weapons need you to soak up. If you levelled it up and bring the enhanced voltaic arc blessing for the gun, you don’t need to waste too much ammo until everything is dead.
You never have to reload manually, it takes around 14 seconds to passively reload your magazine from 0 to 40, during which time you’re free to melee and use your abilities. And you usually don’t even have to consciously do that, the moments between heavy engagements are easily enough to keep you topped up, assuming you’re not shooting at ambient trash mobs.
I’m not sure what difficulty your playing, anything damnation and above it is factueel not possible to not run out of ammo. every ammo node maxxed means you get +2 bullets every 15 sec. Again perhaps if you have a pre-made group with a vet and hivescum but otherwise it isnt possible on those difficultys.
It does, it just blends in with every other screen affect.
Different friend plays on a low end machine and says 3 arc build skitaries is the worst thing to happen since infinite grenade box ogryn in mortis trials, performance wise.
this entire class seems very broken from a visuals perspective. the galvanic rifle shoots slow projectiles but is actually hitscan, causing the shots to be heavily desynced from what they hit. the arc mace you can barely tell if it’s on or off other than sounds. phosphor effect is basically invisible but it just does fat aoe. arc grenades just seem to instantly delete a huge area that is totally outside of its visual effect. arcs themselves are invisible to me. arc rifle just shoots little blue fart clouds that don’t really seem like electricity
i definitely agree the game runs badly when many people use arc stuff despite being barely visible
it’s hard to see because the visual burst lasts a fraction of a second.
to your point about visuals: the visual “electro-strike conduit” (melee crits electrocute the enemy) provides is they start spastically shaking. makes sense, they’re being electrocuted but i expected to see an electric current running through them like other abilities but there’s nothing.
That’s exactly how I feel. It allows to feel the POWER. The only problem is that there’s always another Skitarii in the team, maybe even two or three, with this particular weapon, which only multiplies the force. The new enemies with shields barely affect its effectiveness, and the difficulty of the Auric is again walk in the park.
So the Galvanic Rifle (or phosphorus) — you need to aim for heads (even with aimbot), it’s short on ammo, and you have to reload frequently. Or take Arc Rifle — just aim it roughly in the enemy’s direction and hold the trigger, since the arcs will do the half of work. Where are the downsides? (reloading and total ammo count is definitely not it)
I’m okay with its power level, but the clip needs to hold 20 rounds.
Yeah I am Max level, not running optimal builds as they’re centered around penances (the malfunctioning penance sucks so much) and the arc rifle just seems so crazy good. Sometimes I am using melee, and then I remember, I don’t need to do this and arc everything to death.
I think they’ll need to cut the ammo by 25-50% and/or possibly the clip size within the same margin.
They could slow the draw up to a point but past that I’m not a fan of super low draw speeds as that was for example what made the bolter go from OP to non-viable for ages to finally being viable again when they made the draw speed more bearable again. I mean, they added a draw speed talent to vet which I think almost everybody takes for the helbore now. I’d rather anything but making a weapon more clunky to balance it. Less ammo efficient is fine and will probably need to happen.
