3 Missions in a row with no bombs

The last 3 missions I played with Ranger Veteran happened to have no bombs at all. I stopped using the talent after that happened 2x, but I figured with the most recent update, ToT has supply areas before the end practically guaranteed to have bombs.

Problem is, none of the missions I played were ToT, and the team was trying to push straight through the missions fast. No bombs appeared anywhere close to the main trail.

Of course, now I’m considering that a dead talent for quick-play since you can end up never finding a single bomb. I’d suggest that the talent be modified to have Ranger Vet start with a random bomb.

It would be cool if Bardin could convert potions into bombs in case he finds potions but no bombs.

Firstly, are you sure there’re no bombs? Have you checked all the spots?
Secondly, that’s what random is all about: sometimes you swim in bombs, sometimes - not so much…

Oi, you cant complain about not finding bombs while also noting the team was just blasting straight through the maps and not looking anywhere beyond the main paths.

Its fairly common for supplies to lay away from the barren beaten paths.

I just specified the group was pushing through the mission fast. Everywhere I checked had none. I don’t think that should be the typical experience. More often than not teams push through as quickly as possible.

I disagree. If you choose to rush - you choose to forego most of pickup spots. So, it’s not on the AI director to cater to rushers.
I’m nearly the exact opposite to rushers - I take my time, hanker down during hordes and check on most item spawn spots. And I can assure you that over 1k+ hours there’re very few games that had no pickups.

That doesn’t address the issue I’ve mentioned about 3x now. Players get left behind by quick-play teams hungry to push ahead to snipe a few roaming elites. The game favors sticking with the team over lingering behind to grab goodies. A fairly common issue.

For that reason alone, recently I’ve switched to using the 15% movement speed bonus on Ranger Vet with my builds using the bomb talent, which seems to alleviate the issue extremely well. 15% actually translates to quite a bit of mobility which is useful for slower ranged weapons and reloads as well as getting bombs before getting left behind.

Still, I think it’d be preferable just to start Ranger Vets off with one bomb if they have the bomb talent, then it’s consistent and there’s no concern about not getting as much utility form the ult if you don’t find one for half the match, and you can stick with your team if they insist on rushing.

This is mostly an experience issue with players not knowing the items spawns. Levels tend to have many item generation spots and some are closer to the path than others. If your party is in good shape or already has a well stocked inventory you can simply ignore these spawn spots and quickly progress through the level. If you are struggling and need supplies badly it’s up to you to decide if the time to take a detour is worth it.

If people rush ahead, well, you can’t fix stupid. It’s frustrating when I walk five feet off the direct path and find a chest with not one, but two healthkits in it, plus a loot dice, only to see that my entire team has already crossed a one way drop. All you can really do is ping items to show people where they are and hope they remember for next time. If they have the desire to get good at the game, they will.

Regarding the ranger grenade talent, that one is down to pure RNG. Sometimes you get all ammo, sometimes you get all potions, sometimes you get all grenades. There is no “trick” to make it work a certain way, though from personal experience I can tell you that the number of specials rises dramatically on higher difficulty levels and in certain scripted events like boss or finale fights. Especially on CW maps with the +specials modifier. The more specials you kill per map the more rolls you have at getting a grenade.

If your team is experienced they will ask you if you have the level 35 bomb dupe talent, or just assume you have it and pass you the first grenade they find if you don’t have one already. Rangers are also the ideal member of the party to not carry a tome because of the inherent 10% chance to dupe items on use.
